Yes and no, the post WW2 economy was great and most people had lived through a war and knew what it was like to go through hard times.

Basically the second WW2 ended and the military industrial complex took off. Also going off the gold standard and Bretton Wood was a major boon to the US in the short term, but in the long term it screwed over the global economy.
