Nominalists believe that there are no universal attributes.

Basically they think that everything we can say about an object is just fiction.

A realist would say that numbers exist regardless whether there are human minds to understand and comprehend them, while nominalists believe that numbers are not real, they are just a useful construct we employ to solve problems.
