The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

There's too much fighting here. We need to remember that we are all united in Christ's love for us and his sacrifice. Post pictures, quotes etc of Jesus.

> And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

John 3:14‭-‬18 NKJV

> And as they went to tell His disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, “Rejoice!” So they came and held Him by the feet and worshiped Him. Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell My brethren to go to Galilee, and there they will see Me.”

Matthew 28:9‭-‬10 NKJV

> Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?” And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!”

Mark 4:39‭-‬41 NKJV

> When He saw their faith, He said to him, “Man, your sins are forgiven you.” And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, “Who is this who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?” But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, He answered and said to them, “Why are you reasoning in your hearts? Which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Rise up and walk’? But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins” —He said to the man who was paralyzed, “I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.”

Luke 5:20‭-‬24 NKJV

>We need to remember that we are all united in Christ's love

Tell that to the crusaders who sacked Constantinople and effectively destroyed Byzantium, giving all of Southeastern Europe to the Turks.

they were also excommunicated; I am Catholic and I am sorry some of us did that, doubly so since part of my family is linked to the people who attacked Constantinople. However, I think OP as a point: we live in a world which is actively attacking the true faith; I do not want the Western world to forget about Christ, and I think the Christians in that part of the world, no matter the denominations, should preserve their identities whilst working alongside one another in His name. But I am not asking to forget or disregard the past actions of any of the sides. Let's say I want a temporary truce…

It was horrible that that happened, but nobody alive today is responsible for that event, and there is no reason to cause division over it.

> “And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.”

Mark 11:25‭-‬26 NKJV

Remember that the world hates us, we are commanded to love our enemies and pray for our persecutors, how can we do that if we can't even love one another, united in the love our saviour? Jesus was attacked, mocked and ridiculed by the Romans and Pharisees, yet he still willingly died for their sins, and prayed for their forgiveness.

"For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself." Heb 7:26-27

If only the treacherous byzantines hadn't struck first, constantly sabotaging the crusaders, and commiting atrocities against them, the Massacre of the Latins being one example, maybe you would have ground to be mad.

Besides, even in that time the 'Crusaders' who did that were excommunicated ny the Pope for their actions.

>muh excommunicated

You Catholics then installed the puppet Latin Empire that destroyed Byzantium for another 60 years.

Just recently you expelled 1 million Serbs from their ancient homes in the 90s.

Even now you sow discord between Ukrainians and Russians by uniating them.

We Orthodox and Catholics are mortal enemies, there is nothing to discuss. May God grant us holy war to decide who is right.

The whole point of this thread was to show unity DESPITE the past. It doesn't matter if it's true or not, this is not the thread for denominational fighting.

> Now John answered and said, “Master, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we forbade him because he does not follow with us.” But Jesus said to him, “Do not forbid him, for he who is not against us is on our side.”

Luke 9:49‭-‬50 NKJV

>to show unity DESPITE the past.

Why would you do that? It's like asking people to agree that Christians and Muslims worship the same God, despite Muslims not believing in the Bible. You can't have opinions in spite of facts, it's plain stupid.

>or he who is not against us is on our side.”

You understand that the Catholics are against us (Orthodox)?
