The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

I've been trying to find a good church in my area for such a long time. It's so draining to go to a church, sit there thinking it'll be a good time, everyone's there in good faith and to get closer to God, and Mr.Some Guy in a Tie comes up to the pulpit and spends the rest of of church time not talking about god or the bible, but "Why you should vote for Mr.That Guy That Ate Babies Back in The 80's or Something as your new government official."

I get that church is important, but there's so much corruption in the churches where I live that finding a good one (one that remains a good one too) seems impractical with the resources and time I have available to me. I'm curious what my other options are.

Your other option is not being Christian. Go to church

So what is one supposed to do when so many churches around them have abandoned god that finding a church that hasn't fallen is like searching for a needle in a haystack when there almost no chance such needle still exists? Just sit there and pretend nothing is wrong? Pretend not to be discomforted at people entering God's house with intent of turning people away from god? It's infuriating. It's not like you can just spawn in a new church free of charge.

Where are you from? And what do you mean by "fallen"? If you mean churches with sinners, you won't find any church that meets your criteria, because they can't exist.

Churches that focus more on pushing a political agenda than actually talking about the scripture itself and sharing interpretations, or using the scripture to persuade people to agree with them on a political subject. I want to hear what the bible has to say, develop my own interpretation of the scripture, and discuss interpretations of the scripture with other people present at the church, not one guy selecting some seemingly random, scripture they will read, then tangent to trying to persuade you into voting for X.

Everyone's got some sin on them, that's fine, and I get that there's no such thing as a sinless church. I'm not talking about that. I guess the word "fallen" wasn't exactly chosen wisely there.

Church isn't supposed to be a Bible study, it is to worship God. Church is the wrong place to look if you want to "discuss interpretations." I assume you are a Protestant: have you tried going to a Catholic or Orthodox church to see how they are different?

I've been going to a Latin Mass parish and it's been awesome. The sermons have been on point almost all the time. The choir sounds heavenly, and actually our congregation keeps getting bigger since we moved to a bigger church (biggest in the city). If you can find a traditional parish around, just check it out to see the sermons. Alternatively, you can check out some sermons here on this channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3x3gDTqUYy_bFZWS-U_mZQ and see if you like what you hear. Obviously pick a topic that seems like you might be interested in it. If you like the sort of tone and stuff they speak then you might like a traditional parish. It's focused really on God and spirituality and how to become more holy and not some nonsense that other places say.

Well yeah, I get that worshiping God is obviously the main priority, though most of churches I've been to are sort-of a big, one sided bible study, which I guess is where my discomfort arises, since that gives the guy at the talking end of that a lot of power.

Sure, I'll try focusing my search around Catholic/Orthodox churches, since most churches I've tried have been protestant.

Sounds neat, I'll check if there's any around.

Find a home church or informal community. Other churches sold out for 30 pieces of silver (501c3) and are beholden to earthly kings. Not the king of heaven. Some will kick and scream and try to argue with me, but in their hearts, Christian anons know I'm telling the truth.

So try to look for small churches, and find out which ones have 501c3 and avoid those? Got it.

Oops. Sorry for the double post above. Lag made me think one post didn't get through… only to find out it did.

God bless
