If I lived in your house and obeyed all of your rules, would I become your child?

>If I lived in your house and obeyed all of your rules, would I become your child?

No, because adoption did not officially occur.

>If I follow all of God's rules, do I become his child?

No, that would be Pelagianism. Baptism is how we become adopted sons and daughters of God. This concept is found constantly throughout the Pauline Epistles.
