Pleasure/well-being and suffering in the material sense can't determine good or evil.
Good and Evil only exists in relation to God and your own end.
The martyrs suffered a lot;
We can all agree that torturing someone is "evil" yet from the sacrificed (etymologically to make smth or someone "holy) Pov it was "good" because their suffering made them Holy to God and humans who can take them as examples for their own spiritual journey.
Now compare this to the modern, western world, we're probably living in the most confortable world since the beginning of the world and your average guy eats and sleep better than most lords in the middle age…
Is it good? It's neither good and evil in itself yet it makes people complacent, arrogant, and make them forget their own end.
