Why did he help the centurion? Christanon 10/08/18 (Mon) 13:13:23 862d01 No.711665
That centurion was probably a pious Roman, devoted to the emperor and the gods of Rome.

Because he trusted Jesus
"I tell you, I have not found such great faith even in Israel."

I dunno, why did Peter and Paul minister to a bunch of filthy pagans?
Christanon 10/08/18 (Mon) 19:16:38 1022b6 No.711800
>hang out with a bunch of stupid statues and hypocrites
>only have fanciful fables made up by poets to believe in
>see the Son of God on earth and instantly believe, despite being a gentile
That's blessed faith, anon.

Christanon 10/09/18 (Tue) 07:13:57 3bbc02 No.712072
>You have to stop being a Roman soldier because it's not nice
Things Jesus never said

I think the anon meant in regards to the imperial cult.
Christanon 10/09/18 (Tue) 09:49:45 824486 No.712116
Because Christ respected the Romans and knew they would eventually be the ones to inherit the Covenant the Jews would lose.

Because he's Jesus Christ.
Christanon 10/09/18 (Tue) 20:12:57 a4390e No.712312
When a centurio has the sight to be able to acknowledge to what appears as a peregrinus peasant that "lord I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my servant shall be healed" – that centurio has more faith than any one of us.

Although one had to sacrifice in the imperial cult legally, greek "atheism" (think: aristotelian monotheism) was popular among the literate, and a requirement for the rank of centurio was literacy (a centurio must be able to read orders afterall).
He could have been a greek "atheist", given how close he served to the east and greek thought.
