The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

>I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

What can we do to maintain Christian orthodoxy in an age of modernism and relativism with a culture that desperately wants to corrupt our teachings to force us to fit in with a degenerate, hedonistic culture?

Read the Bible.

Read it as a little child and add no preconceived notions to it.

Everyone I’ve known who has done this has come to extremely similar theology.

True, but you got to read it a lot. Managing to know it well enough to be able to contextualize each teaching within the other… it's totally doable but there's so many distractions most people haven't gotten through it once.

I'd suggest, if one really wants to get it, reading the NT (skipping revelations) 4 or 5 times. That's probably enough for most practical knowledge and the length is only the equivalent of a modern novel.

More is always better but, 4 or 5 times in quick succession should allow you to cross-compare most teachings.

And what theology is that?

I'm curious about this. Which one did they arrive to?

"I can do and say anything as long as I can find a verse that might be read as supporting it."

Faith alone salvation,

You should follow Gods commandments,

Hard on sin.

It’s anectdotal I know, but I encourage you to find people who are Bible alone (regardless of denomination) and see for yourself.
