Either the children are detained with their parents or put in a separate facility away from their parents. The only other option is to just let them go and not bother to deport them. Really makes you think, huh?

Also it's not at all obvious that the adults are actually the children's parents and not a human trafficker who's faking the relationship (this happens a lot). They have done DNA testing while they're separated to verify this.

Basically it's not their kid in many cases, the separation is not as long or as cruel as people have said (look at the pictures of the facilities, basically like a middle-class elementary school), and even then it's pretty simple: if you don't want to be separated from your child, don't abuse them by smuggling them across a deadly desert into a foreign country where neither you or they are allowed to be.

The entire thing is predicated on hysteria and emotional reactions. "Here's a crying toddler!" Guess what? Toddlers cry a lot, that means nothing. "Here's an (((expert))) saying this 12 hour separation is going to damage the child forever!" Still waiting for your insight on women working and daycare, chief.
