I've always thought something like this is sort of probable if evolution was true.
Really, after 10 years of carefully reading both sides, I don't see that either side has proven it's case. Genesis is highly allegorical, to not see that is to not understand how to read literature. It has a distinctly different feel than the more historical writings and, besides it was written several thousand years after the events occurred. Ever played the telephone game? And while I believe Moses to be heavily inspired by God, I don't think God dictated the books a la Mormon tablet style.
As for evolution- we've never seen it, It's all well and good to say "millions of years" but what the heck does that do for us now, or even in the next thousand. It's a non-issue. Who the winnie the pooh cares. Obviously, selective breeding, natural selection, and such are real things. No ones debating the benefits of domestication.
So, what's the bone to pick? Everyone wants to be right but the winning theory doesn't change anything for Christians, though Athiests would obviously -seem- be btfo, we know damn well they'll just rationalize something else. It won't change anyone's mind, it doesn't bring us current benefit.
Everyone stop focusing on this silly issue and get to doing God's work.
