The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Can somebody redpill me on 7th day adventism?

I'm agnostic, but i joined a youth group backed by a local seventh day adventist church, a lot of people in the group aren't from the church, but people from the church seem to be quite nice.

How are they different from other protestants?other christians?

And this board is quite nice, might even convert me

Sect founded due to retarded "prophesy" of return of Jesus in mid of XIX century. Judizers and believing in ann*hilationism and random bizzare teachings thought by Ellen G. White. The fact that they are predecessors of JW should be enough to keep a distance from them

They worship on Saturday and refrain from working. Their ideology comes from a woman named Ellen White. They see her as a prophet, although they don't put her writings on the same level as the Bible. They tend to be vegetarians although it isn't required. They teach 'soul sleep' and annihilationism and have a historicist view of Bible prophecy (which used to be the mainstream protestant understanding). At least nowadays most of them affirm the trinity. I consider them to be Christians, unlike Mormons, although they are wrong about many things.

Pretty much this, and they tend to blow their perceived importance of these special snowflake doctrines waaay out of proportion, to grant themselves legitimacy.

Go to mainstream christianity, instead of these history falsifying conspiratards.

They have really wild theology based on Ellen White's works. She's quite a crackpot, just look up some of what she wrote, OP:

They hold to the Nicene Creed and are Christian, but it's almost certainly in your interest to pick a more mainstream denomination to avoid their eccentricities.

To add to that, their trinitarian theology can toe the line of tritheism sometimes because it's based on White's works.
