The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

I have been praying that a vocation would be revealed sometime in the near future, I have been lost and would like to know what I can do for a living, or at most to get by, all while keeping a human and spiritual life rather than wage slaving and staying miserable.

I was originally thinking of getting a degree in plant sciences, forestry work, biology, but I have concluded this would not only be very limiting in my job oppertunities, but would probably put me in a position where I need to work for companies and universities that hate God, and wouldn't let me go far unless I fit into their agenda.

What are some job and career paths that pay well enough for a man who wants to live a Christian life style? Also I would like to move out of America and to Europe, preferably Eastern Europe one day, so a degree and career knowledge that I can carry to another country is preferable.

Please pray that I can find a vocation/career path that would fit my life.

I felt the same way as you OP, I originally went to school to be an Electrical Engineer, but ended up realizing I hated it and it's full of deluded sociopaths who hate God and think they're hot shit for being engineers. Dropped out and instead got a degree in Cyber Security. Way better, IT/Computer based careers are seriously whatever you make them. I work with a good mix of both Graduates and Non-graduates and I'm enjoying it.

For me medicine was the only thing i could see myself doing. I was bad at every other subject.

My advices:

1.Try new subjects (with youtube tutorials)

2. Why not try medical field. Maybe not a doctor but a nurse would be great

I went into IT at school and haven't gotten a job after a year of looking. I realized I don't even like it very much and I'd rather do something else. Though cyber security has always been the most interesting to me. How did you get into it? We had one course and it didn't cover all the much. Maybe I can salvage my career path if I get in there

Finally responding 24 hours later, I got an internship as a IT person while I was still studying EE. I then dropped out for 2 years and rode that internship to a decent enough job working for an ISP without a degree. Started going back to school part time while I was working and since my class worl wss basically the same as my work work, it was actually pretty easy. Depending on where you are, IT staff that speak English as a first language are in dire shortage and high demand. Dont take classes first of, go online and study for a CompTIA certification of you choosing (I suggeat A+ first because it's the most general) and that alone almost guarantees you an entry level job. From there get a couple more certifications in whatever speciality that you want. Then go into a degree on that.

Op again, anyone know anything of foresty work? I was wondering if that could be spiritually fulfilling.

It's a job focused on curating public land for maximum production and is subject to the public institution that manages it. The USFS like the rest of the federal government is if not already pozzed is on the cusp of being pozzed. Luckily it's a harder agency to ruin than most because of its very tangible function which would also get lost. I can say that they need good people because the older generation that is primo is retiring and dying off and the younger people are not nearly as dutiful or passionate. If you go into forestry it'll have to be because you love it. the work is hard, you won't get paid anything, and won't be appreciated but you'll keep things functional. Contact the USFS about it and volunteer for a wildfire crew or something similar to help get your foot in the door.

>I was wondering if that could be spiritually fulfilling.

A lot of hippies and ecowhackjobs also thought the same and the USFS is and has been inundated with their nonsense for a while. If you go in be prepared to always have to maneuver around it but I suspect its probably still less of an issue than in other jobs.
