Jonah 3:10 explicitly says that turning from their evil way was works.

Thus, repenting from sins is works. There are other things one could repent from as well, such belief in works salvation, and this would be what the New Testament is constantly referring to. If you cannot forsake works salvation, then you have not repented of the work of your hands.

How does this make sense? Jesus Christ told you to believe his word, so if you broke all his commandments then you wouldn't believe him either, because that was something he told you to do. The two conditions contradict.
