I apologize if threads like this are common, but perhaps other lurkers who are curious will find this useful as well.

I'm currently reading the Bible cover to cover for the first time, still in Genesis, and each chapter gives me some light information, but then I google it and there are people breaking it down like there was an entire book about it. i. e. the confusion of tongues in Babel. After reading it I was left with, "What?" "Why?"

Anyone have any books/resources they recc that explain it? (I know diff denom. interpret it differently.) I'd love it if there's any old books that serve this end, maybe Renaissance era. They're just more of a joy to read, and are typically free of (((contamination.)))

Just wanted to let you know you anons were a lot of help, I'm sure arguing about X denomination and Z denomination was a better way of spending your time.

Found this site, it's good.

My current Bible reading stack is as follows:

- Halley's Bible Handbook

- Expanded Bible Translation (EXB)

As a Christian who's read the Bible cover-to-cover in KJV, I don't find the integrity of the gospel being compromised in any way and I get the benefit of readability and understanding in current times. One of the improvements I'm looking to my stack is to add a resource of one of the early Church Fathers, I've read the Didache but if there was a non-denominational Bible handbook I'm all ears.
