Hello.

Around a year or so ago I had a falling out with Christianity. There is a lot to go over regarding why I had this falling out so I will simply sum it up as having been influenced by certain groups that at that time were both anti-Christian and vouching for other systems of belief. I put a lot of effort into learning what they were all about and in the end I renounced Christianity as having been false and revoked my statement of belief.

Originally I would always say "Why am I a Christian? Because I believe the testimony of those who claimed witness to the resurrection of Christ." Now, I feel very odd. Very conflicted. To come back to Christianity will take a lot of time. I held beliefs that really changed how I viewed people as a whole, and coming back to an all-loving ideal is something I have struggled with for months now.

If you anons could help me, drop testimony and proof of the resurrection to further push me towards God. I don't believe I truly abandoned Him in my heart of hearts. Even in those days were I would make statements against Christianity I would still uphold a great deal of it, lash out at people misinterpreting it, and attempt to show people the good of the bible and the Lord. And I think I'd like to go back to fervently believing in my heart of hearts, without contradiction.

Think about the testimony and actions of the early disciples. Quote related:

“I know the resurrection is a fact, and Watergate proved it to me. How? Because 12 men testified they had seen Jesus raised from the dead, then they proclaimed that truth for 40 years, never once denying it. Every one was beaten, tortured, stoned and put in prison. They would not have endured that if it weren't true. Watergate embroiled 12 of the most powerful men in the world-and they couldn't keep a lie for three weeks. You're telling me 12 apostles could keep a lie for 40 years? Absolutely impossible.”

Any objection you have against the resurreciton can be destroyed easily. But if you don't tell us about them, there is nothing we can do. Don't use buzzwords like "proof", say your objections and you will see how easily they are dissected and shattered.

My objection simply lies in the fact that I no longer accepted the testimony that Christ arose from the dead. This is why I asked for testimony and "proof" of the resurrection, so that I may feel a compulsion to once again accept that Christ had arisen. My falling out in faith was simply that, a loss of faith in what I once believed in. I was not presented a thousand and one different reasons as to why the resurrection was not real, I simply rejected the notion of the resurrection on no other account than a loss of belief. Being presented other ideas that were "anti-Christian" helped to set that rejection in place.

Faith.

I believe that it is the most misunderstood thing in the bible. What is Faith??? I have heard so many different explanations, and all of them were wrong!! What the Lord said, was that true faith is to believe every word the Lord has spoken, without doubt, without question!! Isn't that simple?? Yet so hard to put into practice.

<Luke 17:6 "And the Lord said, if ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you."

<Matthew 17:20 "And Jesus said unto them, because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, if ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, remove hence to yonder place, and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you"

<Matthew 21:21-22 "Jesus answered and said unto them, verily I say unto you, if ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done, (22) And all things whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive."

<Mark 11:23 "For verily I say unto you, that whosoever shall say unto this mountain, be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. (24) Therefore I say unto you, whatever things ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them."

<Mark 9:23 "Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth."

<John 14:12-14 "Verily, Verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do, because I do unto my Father. (13) And whatever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. (14) If ye shall ask anything in my name, I will do it."

Read these again!! make a list of what the Lord is saying that you can do!! What is the one condition for these things happening?? And then ask – Why will these things be done when I call for them to be done?? The answer is — Not because you said it, but because Jesus said that it would happen when you said it!! And when you believe what Jesus said, then Jesus will honor Your Word, just as if it were His Word. Jesus did not say, " If I feel like it today", and did not say " If it is in my will", and did not say "Maybe I'll think about it". But man does not believe. Man will give any reason and excuse why it just cannot be that way, of why it cannot ever happen that way, that it can only be symbolic. And that is why man never sees these things done. Yet there are some yet today, who do believe everything God has said, and do not doubt, and they do heal the crippled, give sight to the blind, raise the dead. An example of God honoring a man's word as his own, even though it was not God's will for it to happen, is seen in the life of Smith Wigglesworth, who did raise three people from the dead while he lived. The most important of these was the last one. Quote from "Smith Wigglesworth Apostle of Faith" by Stanley Howard Frodsham, printed by the "Gospel Publishing House, Springfield, Missouri, 1993. Page 148"

"There were two great sorrows in his life. One was the home going of his dear wife in 1913. Mrs. Wigglesworth served the Lord until the very last moment of her life. It was as she was returning from Bowland Street Mission that her heart failed her. That night Mr. Wigglesworth was going to Scotland, but news reached him at the station before he boarded the train that his wife was very sick. He rushed home. We gather from what he has told us, that her spirit had already departed to be with the Lord, but when he rebuked death her spirit came back for just a short while. But then the Lord spoke to his heart and told him, "This is the time that I want to take her home to Myself." And so with a breaking heart he released the one he had loved for so many years to go to be with Christ. But it seemed to us that from that moment his ministry took on a new sweetness and a new power."

We see in here that it was not God's will to return her to life, but honored Smith's word, and allowed her to be raised from the dead. We see also that Smith immediately released her back to death as soon as he knew God's will. One who has the power, as a believer who does not doubt, does not run about trying to please himself or to show off, but rather when they have the power, the desire to only please God, using that power only for the Glory of God, not for their own glory.

When Jesus says that there is nothing that is impossible for you to do, will you believe?? When Jesus says that you can do all that He did, and More yet, will you believe?? Or will you say, "no, he didn't mean it, no, I can't do it, no, He didn't mean me when He said it." Can you walk on water?? Peter did!! The other 11 Apostles could have, yet did not even try, yet they too healed, cast out demons, performed miracles. You see how easy it is to limit yourself, to tell yourself that you can't do that.

There were several of us who were visiting a nursing home, who were asked to pray for the son of a man who was sitting at his son's bed. He said that the doctors couldn't find out what was wrong with him. As we layed hands on this young man, the Lord said " pray for his liver", So as we prayed, I prayed for the healing of his liver, but while praying, I heard all the rest of them praying for everything and anything, and not one of them praying for anything internal. I never saw that man again, but later heard that he recovered. Another time, At the church altar, an old lady who had been in an accident, having her shoulder hurt, was there for healing prayers as she had very little movement of her arm. As I started to pray for her arm, I felt the power of God going forth from me to her, as I moved her arm up and down through the full range of movement while praying in tongues. She was healed by the power of God, yet as I watched her return to her seat, I saw her again draw her arm in to herself, holding her arm like she did before it was healed. I saw that after she was healed, she chose to refuse the healing. You will find many who are like that. You will lay hands on them, and they will be healed, and you will see them also reject that healing, yet professing that they want healing while they will not accept the healing that God has sent to them through you. But again, you will see real healings, which the Lord will perform through you.

When God says that He will do this, He will do it!! When God says that you can do this, then you can do it!!!

Do you understand now what faith is, or is it still beyond your grasp?? From the way that I know that the Lord is going to use you, I know that you have a faith far beyond what most Christians have, yet, you must exercise that faith before it will grow. When you lay hands on someone for healings, believe that Jesus will honor your word just as He said that He will, and you will see them healed, and they will start sending others to you for healings, for you do have the power, and you do have faith that is larger than a mustard seed, so saith the Lord God Jehovah. You have only to exercise that faith.

It's kind of one of those things where testimony is all you are going to get. If you cannot believe that right now, then it is best to at least recognize that the story means to show that "life is more true than death." It means much more, but that's a bare minimum of what by any standard, counts as a "good idea."

If you want a scientific answer of how a one off miracle happens, nobody who's not a con artist can help you. Hence "proof" only goes so far as the 500 people who saw Jesus alive after the resurrection.

Also anti-Christian ideas do exactly what they say on the tin when given expression in day to day life. It is the dialectic of death, starting from the premise that death is more true than life, hence it is the opposite of truth.

It's way simpler then that anon in hebrews 11:1

>NOW faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of

things not seen.

That's what faith is.
