Hey /Christian/, how does one believe? My friends have really been trying to get me to come to Christianity after dealing with depression and double dipping after falling down the reductive materialism rabbit hole. I’ve read Mere Christianity, but I’m just not particularly sold. I feel like, if I’m the fence, I should lean nearer nothing than something.

The notion of this all being meaninglessness wailing in and out of oblivion brings about a wordless, white hot bout of emotion that gets stuck in my chest near daily. Am I missing something?

I don't think there's ever going to be a single video or written argument that convinces you. For some truly analytical people that can suffice, but for the rest of us, it simply doesn't work that way.

Even if you feel stupid while doing it, the best way to believe is to pray.

>Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!

Don't pray for God to give you a sign, but pray for him to strengthen your faith, to relieve your burdens. That's the best advice that I could give.

Speaking from personal experience, reading the lives of the Saints and learning about Church history also played a big part in convincing me of the reality of Christianity.

Ask, and the gift is yours. Seek, and you’ll discover. Knock, and the door will be opened for you. For every persistent one will get what he asks for. Every persistent seeker will discover what he longs for. And everyone who knocks persistently will one day find an open door. (Matthew 7:7-8)

These guys have given pretty good advice, but he's an image that is pretty convincing about the existence of God, though not particularly the Christian God. Still, it's a good stepping stone to believing in Him as told through the Bible.
