I believe it is historically accurate, as there is nothing I read in it that directly contradicts the synoptics. Here are my thoughts: John was the oldest living apostle. He was the only one not martyred, and there was even a rumor amongst Christians that the apostle John would never die (John 21:3). As such, the many gospels that existed (Luke 1:1) would have been in circulation at the time of the writing of John. John was one of Christ's earliest disciples, and he was known as the apostle Jesus loved. He ends his gospel saying that Jesus did so many things in his life that the world couldn't hold that many books (John 21:25). I believe John specifically wrote about events not covered in the other gospel books already written. That's why it has so many miracles other gospels don't mention. He also includes many discourses not included in other gospels because his gospel was specifically for the purpose of evangelizing (John 20:31). That's my view.

Sorry to tell you bud but your religion was created in the 2nd century A.D. (after the Apostle John went into hiding) by Platonist Greeks who decided to combine Greek Philosophy and Gnosticism with some aspects of Christianity.

In 1820 A.D., the Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appeared to the Prophet Joseph Smith to restore Christianity through the Book of Mormon. Joseph Smith was the new Moses commissioned by Jesus Christ himself.

So we, the Mormons, are the true Christians. God restored Christianity through us. So have fun with your Greek bastardized version of Christianity. You literally fell into the same trap that the Jews in the time of Christ fell in, that is, Monotheism. But Christ taught about the true nature of God and the universe, and for that the Jews killed him. You kill him too every time you attempt to strip the Heavenly Father of his humanity and use false blasphemous abstract Greek philosophical concepts to make God some kind of universal spirit.
