As for the rest of what you said, official cemeteries are holy because they're blessed, but a single prayer said for the repose of a person that's died won't stop a demon from screwing around in the general area. Look at legitimate exorcisms done by priests – getting rid of demons is extremely difficult.
Ghosts in the cultural sense of "wandering spirits of human beings" don't exist. Demons can look how they want and can take the guise of the dead. That aside, don't let the weird experience you had get to you or fixate your attention. Demons mean to lead us astray, even if through only our curiosity.
