1 Corinthians 14: 34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law. 35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.
Why do many churches, including ones which do not allow female ministers or priests, allow women to speak in church? If Paul was right (which he was!) in saying that women shouldn’t be in positions of authority in the Church, then Paul was also right about women speaking in church. That surely means that we shouldn’t have women reading from the Word as part of Mass as I have seen numerous times, or indeed doing the same in other denominations.
