I like this idea too.
How does /christian/ feel about deliberately blinding chimpanzees and then using head-mounted cameras in combination with a small computer (raspberry pi or just a smartphone of some sort) and earphones so train the chimpanzees to "see" with sound? The cameras present the computer with an image, that image is converted into sound and the chimpanzee hears the sound. Since it's just a sound, AR-features can be included quite easily.
The whole issue facing drones right now is that despite their potential ability, they still need to learn how to see. This bypasses the problem of sight and instead, focuses on the chimpanzees latent ability. In my /pol/ days, I was always afraid of this. I was afraid of Jung's theories being true, of there being such a thing as a "racial soul" and that should chimpanzees be utilised in this way, they would evolve at which point, it would no longer be ethical to enslave them and thus, they too would have to be exterminated, just like all the other races. With /christian/ however, I look forward to all of us, chimpanzees included, going to heaven.
Then again, what exactly is the /christian/ stance on Jung's theories of a supposed "collective unconscious"? Is it even /christian/ to assume that chimpanzees would collectively evolve if they were trained en masse to use tools?
