1. After you get the ashes on, how long should they stay on? I want to go to the gym and shower after the church service, but I don’t know if it’s disrespectful to do so on Ash Wednesday

2. I know it’s a fast day, but do multivitamins and supplements count as food? Can I have those?

>do multivitamins and supplements count as food?

I wouldnt say they're "food" in the technical sense, rather they're condensed/concentrated nutrients which you're supposed to get from food, and which your body is required to metabolite. Therefore I would say taking them on a fast days defeats the point of and breaks the fast. If you want to fast, abstain from food (and so nutritients, minerals and vitamins normally aquired from food) by abstaining from the both food and supplements.

OP, this is a complete perversion of the purpose of fasting

1: not super important, go with your gut

2: I don't think they count, no. You aren't really eating them, and they aren't really food. If you want to go full tryhard then forgo them, but I won't be. The main idea of fasting is to forgo the pleasure of eating rather than to malnourish oneself, after all.

I'm Lutheran, btw, so if you're not then take my words with a grain of salt.

Fasting in the RCC means one regular meal a day and two smaller meals that together do not equal a full meal. It does not mean to eat nothing. He can have the multivitamin with his meal.

When I got home I ended up wiping off my ashes. I plan to bury the paper towel I used later. I don't want to abuse the blessed stuff.

Also for fasting I just had one meal and one protein shake

Happy Ash Wednesday everyone!

1. as long as you dont wipe them off as soon as you leave church you're fine.

2. no. supplements arent food and can lead to your death depending on how you think you can use them. eat some spinach and stay hydrated. it's not that hard.
