well he basically just looked up every time the Fathers condemn idols which obviously we have no problem with so…

>Furthermore, there is no evidence that any who professed Christ had idols/icons, such as what are seen in the Roman Catholic and Orthodox churches

this is also false there are depictions of theological images in the catacombs of Rome. the icons in link below are frol around the time those fathers were writing.

Read this: https://www.biblicalarchaeology.org/daily/biblical-topics/crucifixion/a-tomb-in-jerusalem-reveals-the-history-of-crucifixion-and-roman-crucifixion-methods/

The historical context matters. We don't know everything we know about Roman society and crucifixion from the Bible alone. That's why Pontius Pilate is in the creed - Christ was killed at a specific time in a specific place in a specific way.

>stauros means pole

I had a well thought out reply, but as soon as I saw this? DROPPED.

This some JW tier bullshit.

>Leo the Isaurian issued his first edict against the veneration of images

The author thinks this is a good thing? Leo III was roman emperor, not a man of the church. What right does he have in deciding ecclesiastical matters?

Is the riksdag of sweden good for forcing swedish lutheran bishops to accept female ordination too, or should we just come to terms with the fact that caesaropapism is a bad thing.

>the Paulicians have often been described as a survival of early and pure Christianity

The Paulicians were gnostics who, like Marcion of Sinope, denied the old testament. If you want to imitate them, by all means…

>The author thinks this is a good thing?

Of course it's a good thing, it's a pious Christian monarch faithfully following God and keeping idolatry from the Church.
