Thought people here we pretty knowledged on the subject, and pages try to be politically correct.

And the mods are the ones that decide if this deserves its own thread, you may apply for moderation or hide this thread if you believe so.

Unless the person was quite obviously insane/retarded, its basically a one way ticket to a bad place. But with God anything is possible…so who knows?

Very likely hell, but not guaranteed. So don't try and gamble with God's mercy.

not true: suicide is a deadly sin; and low baiting is a venial one.

What exactly counts as "suicide"? What if one is afflicted with a demon and overtime, is worn down and succumbs to it? Is that "suicide" in God's eyes? Does that earn eternal damnation?

544620 No.602838

Take solace in the fact that God is perfectly just but without presuming upon his grace it is a ticket to hell because it's an explicit rejection of him.

16ef70 No.602864

Suicide is sin of murder i.e. mortal sin. Unconfessed mortal sin is one way ticket to hell. Thus suiciders are in hell.

However, Church always have three special cases. First is grace of repentance. Many who wanted to commit sucide but failed said that moment they jumped of the bridge or whatever they realised what they had done and repented. So we have hope.

Second is case of Razis. In which suicide is still malum, evil, but it's culpa, guilt, may be dismissed becuase of circumstances.

And there is Samoson case, where one killing himself is but double-effect, "accident during work" so to speak.

This is teaching of Church in this matter.

ac577b No.602878

Suicide is one of the most grave sins out there. It is not only murder, but also a rejection of God's grace. We don't do funeral services for those who kill themselves because of how grave a sin it is - they automatically excommunicate themselves from the Church by dying like this.

At the same time, we understand suicide a bit better than the ancients did. Suicide is not necessarily the high point and conclusion of a depraved life, but can also be caused by mental illness such as depression. Furthermore, we cannot know what happens in one's heart at the moment of death - somebody who commits suicide by jumping off a bridge can repent and regret their actions before they hit the ground for example.

As a result, we pray for them privately, and hope that God is merciful. But, reasonably, their chances of escaping Hell aren't high… It's not our job to figure out whether X or Y is in Hell though.

Dont know bout them but i think they should burn in hell forever because they havent man up in life lol

But what if the suicide is caused by mental illness?

d931c2 No.602997

>>602970

They should not have taken part in activities that attracted demons ("""mental illnesses""") to possess them.

9bac44 No.603009

>>602970

Then the responsibility is minimized, and according to the will of God, may not be considered a barrier for salvation.

>>602814

A conscious decision for suicide, is suicide. There may always be mitigating factors, but a straight suicide is still gravely sinful. It's a direct refusal of the Holy Spirit.

9b3812 No.603077

>>602662

The canons say that someone who kills themselves shouldn't receive a church funeral. But it makes a huge caveat. Exceptions include those under great duress, mental illness, or in some way were not in their right mind. Few suicides can't be described this way.

To kill another is to murder a person. To kill one'sself is to murder the whole world. It's a grave matter. Those who make this mistake need our prayers all the more.
