Background buckle up buckaroo, this is going to be a wild ride

>mom grew up Baptist

>dad grew up Jewish

>both became "not religious but spiritual" middle class liberals

>didn't take me to church as a kid

>only went to unitarian church for not even a full year

>never read the Bible

>parents gave me Phillip Pullman's "His Dark Materials" series (and I know what Christians think about it) in 4th or 5th grade and I loved it the steampunk metaphysical sci-fi was cool

>because no religious background I had no idea how subversive it was

>became edgy atheist in 5th grade because it was what all my friends were doing and I didn't like the idea of Jewish grandmother being in Hell

>eventually switch from atheism to "spiritual but not following any organized belief" so I wouldn't get kicked out of Boy Scouts

>became Chaplain's Aide and was actually pretty good at it

High School:

>got heavily into the New Age movement

<Spirit Science

<Flower of Life

<Kundalini

<auras

<astral projection

<Akashic Records

<crystal healing

>find the Armageddon Conspiracy website now that one's a doozy and adopt some weird variation of Gnosticism that involves the worship of math and souls reincarnating until they become gods

>realize I have no idea what the fcuk I believe so switch back to atheism

>become degenerate with weed and masturbation

>still hold onto the becoming gods part, but apply it to the species as a whole

College:

>decide to reconnect with Jewish heritage

>start hanging out with Orthodox Jews and they seem pretty based

>also discover /pol/ and learn about all the bad shit Jews have done

>still hang out with Orthodox Jews

>do a damn good job hiding power level for 2 years

>get involved in Meme Magic and the Cult of Kek

>at first I do it because it's funny

>then became only semi-ironic

at the height of my autism I made a meme magic thread on 4/pol/ to cast a curse on the globalists

>now beginning to feel an interest in Esoteric Hitlerism

At that point I knew I'd gone too far

I know I'm WAY off the reservation with this,

Where do I even start?

Appreciate you helo

Start researching the Resurrection. Once you accept it happened, there's really no other option but to become a Christian. If you've already researched it, why haven't you accepted it?

How do I know it happened?

It seems to violate every scientific law we have

>Where do I even start?

Get off cuckchan and every other bullshit esoteric belief you subscribed to and get acquainted with the Gospel of our Christ. If you want to worship anyone, then it shouldn't be Hitler he is still a great role model but Jesus, who is the pinnacle of virtue. Watch also this video in order to BEGOME Christian - it is from a half Jew and how he became a Christian and a Nazi: https://www.bitchute.com/video/M5ES3bi06fKi/

772c8d No.601607

>>601604

I'm sorry, the Resurrection violates every scientific law we have, but crystal healing doesn't? Spirit science doesn't?

If you believe in those things you believe in a supernatural realm. If there's a supernatural realm, it is only logical to say that there is a highest authority in that realm. His name is God.

dcaa29 No.601608

Honestly, I'd love to believe, as Christianity is the foundation of Western Civilization (which I want to keep alive). I've been checking out Jordan Peterson's biblical series and it got me interested. My biggest problem is that I've seen no reason why I should believe in the Resurrection. Please try to convince me, but give me the smart person answer rather than the lowest common denominator pandering seen in megachurches today.

772c8d No.601609

>>601608

I'll give you what I've found to be the fact which has kept my faith strongest and helped me get through periods of doubt:

The apostles had no reason to lie, benefited not at all from their testimony of the Lord Jesus Christ during their life times, and were all murdered gruesomely and in some cases tortured, but still would not give up their belief in Jesus as Lord.

eaed07 No.601610

>>601604

And? If it didn't break laws of the universe, what would be special about it?

If you want to believe in an ALL POWERFUL,

OMNIPOTENT GOD who created and rules the universe, why couldn't he break the laws of the universe?

If I'm the master of my household and I declare Thursday to be Ice Cream Dinner day, it doesn't matter if one of my kids says it doesn't make sense and that he wants to eat veggies. He can eat shit. It's ice cream day.

As >>601607 points out, it's kind of strange that you're willing to subscribe to supernatural belief and "meme magic" which from what I've seen is just a really autistic roundabout way of praying then why not believe in the Resurrection?

Worth investigating is the confirmation of the Shroud of Turin. The image circulates around the board a lot and I'd post it for you if my image folder wasn't a sloppy mess. Definitively proving that the Shroud is an authentic article was a very significant contributor to my own faith when I was still doubting.

dcaa29 No.601622

Let's say I accept the resurrection and its implication that Jesus is the way (in a literal sense, not just an archetypal sense). Two questions:

1. Since I would go back out of habit, what exactly is wrong with the Gnostic version?

2. How do I go about picking a denomination if any?

772c8d No.601625

>>601622

>what exactly is wrong with the Gnostic version?

It's un-Scriptural, which is why the Gnostics had to write their own Scriptures, which we know are not true due to their age. Jesus was a devout Jewish man who loved God. Gnosticism teaches that Jesus hated God.

>How do I go about picking a denomination if any?

Two simple principles: Avoid liberal churches. Avoid churches that put more emphasis on their traditions than the Bible.

772c8d No.601626

>>601622

Also, to (2), you have to pick a denomination. Not choosing is choosing, since non-denominational is itself a denomination.

On my dad's side so it doesn't count, and he only had one Jewish parent. I don't really believe in the religion either, so I can't call myself a Jew by blood or by faith (the term we use is Jew-ish). I just like the traditions (and I mean the real tradition, not that degeneracy-enabling Reform crap with lesbian rabbis) because they remind me of Grandma.

Here's an idea. Read the gospels (books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John in that order), but ignore any miracles and anything related to the exact nature of Jesus and the Trinity and the afterlife and whatnot. You probably don't believe any of that yet, and you can come back to them later. Just look for moral teachings and commandments. Get out pen and paper and write notes on what Jesus tells us to do. A lot of it is in difficult parables, but just write down what you think it means. If later on something you wrote contradicts something else Jesus said, look back and try to find another meaning for a parable or command. It will all fit eventually.

Some teachings might be completely different to what you are used to being associated with Christianity, that's expected. Christianity has taken a lot of turns away from scripture over the years; just remember that scripture is all that matters. Also, many teachings will seem strange/outright stupid. That's expected, not everything seems wise on the surface.

Eventually you will have something that looks like the Pepe Silvia wall and everything just clicks into place.

It might help to not motivate yourself by wanting to be closer to the Lord but rather motivate yourself with how you will be able to win arguments against Christians that don't follow their books - it's what worked for me and how I became Christian.

Don't trust anyone until you have a solid base with Christ as the cornerstone, not everyone that claims to be Christian actually follows Christ.

> I thank the Lord I've never put any faith in any kind of false idol, feels good

Are you sure about that? There's a pretty good chance you've committed idolatory at some point in your life, even if it wasn't some formal worship.

Follow the good advice already in the thread.

Also you can read Lee Strobel's the "Case for Christ." He was an atheist News Reporter who decided to look at the truth of the resurrection.

Another book along this type is "Cold Case Christianity" by J. Warner Wallace. He was an atheist homicide detective looks into the truth of Christianity.

You can also find lecture series by either of these men on you tube.

The best thing you can do right now is say one Our Father and one Hail Mary every morning and evening. Reading books can be helpful, and of course you should read scripture and go to mass, but just saying a few prayers a day can go further than any amount of C.S Lewis or whoever else you'd read. I personally find that books, debates and whatever else you use to convince your mind won't convince your heart, but once your heart is convinced the mind will follow quickly even if you know nothing.

First, sorry if we're a little abrasive. We can be rude at times.

>What exactly is wrong with the Gnostic version

We can find the first issue with Gnostisism by looking at the contents of a small collection of Gnostic books dug up in the middle east.

They are thought to be buried when Gnostisism was rebuked by Anastasius (I think it was Anastasius at least.)

One of the books was a heavily modified version of The Republic with Gnostic beliefs.

Gnostisism is what is essentially another religion that was based on strange philosophy at the time, which explains why it is so focused on esoteric knowledge.

If you read the works of the church fathers, you'll find that many of them were desperately trying to shake off this cult which had grappled onto us for some reason.

>How should I go about picking a denom

It's the best advice in the thread by far. My only disagreement is that you shouldn't ignore the miracles, you should read them as metaphors (because they usually are, they're just also real events). Read the Gospels, learn the story of Christ from the best sources we have and not some moron on the internet. Everything else comes later.
