What are the actual statistics of the Orthodox faith? I don't mean any specific one of the many churches, but the total population of those considered orthodox. Most studies say around 270million as Eastern Orthodox. But when you include Oriental Orthodoxy (Middle East, North Africa, East Africa) that number jumps up to 356million.

Does anyone have anything to confirm that? And on top of that, what are the statistics for Orthodox growth in non-orthodox majority countries. I know for an example there is a steady growth in the US, where nearly half of all Orthodox christians were converts from protestantism or catholicism.

Don't you guys count them as schismatics, though? It's like Catholics including Protestants in our numbers.

I'm from Central Europe and there has been an increase in Orthodox Christians here due to their mass scale immigration, I think it's the same for the rest of Europe.

I think it's 300 million for the Eastern Orthodox (from a book written by the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew).

I would avoid counting the Orientals in. Schism's not over yet.

Orthodoxy is growing in the UK as well due to the decline of Anglicanism. Most dissatisfied Anglicans are becoming Methodists or Catholics, but some are converting to Orthodoxy as well. I know of a couple of Orthodox communities near me who are on the verge of raising enough money to build their own church (as opposed to using an existing non-Orthodox building). Their laity are still mostly Russian, Greek and Eastern European, but their clergy are almost exclusively British and former Anglican priests.

Alright, that makes some sense. But Oriental Orthodoxy is itself a set of 'churches'. What about those in the Middle East who are Greek Orthodox, such as in Lebanon and Syria? They count as Orthodox, yes?

Excellent. So UK and US are the big ones for sure. I've also heard there are a lot of orthodox in Lebanon and some growing in Turkey and Iran

YAY. I like England on its own (dont Judge) and if it will succeed, I would have more reasons to like it.
