Do you ever feel angry about God?

I live with chronic physical and mental health problems and pretty much everyday the only thing that keeps me from ending myself is the fear of His anger. I'm frustrated that He insists I live a meaningless and bleak 75 years where the only motivation I have to keep going is it will get MUCH worse if you quit right now.

e0a3d7 No.585553

Mental illness is on both sides of my family (with the body count being two suicides each, and multiple attempts by relatives), and my mother is crippled by it. Yes, /pol/, I ain't ever having kids.

I'm comforted by meditating on Jesus as God-Man going through his trials and ordeals. I figure that if Jesus went through it all, I think I can too. If Jesus had to suffer in this life, then I'll do it as well. The reward is paradise.

eb8818 No.585554

>Do you ever feel angry about God?

Never.

Without seeking to belittle your situation, but the idea that your suffering is "meaningless" is a huge concern. In fact it's basically nihilistic materialism.

You should be thanking God for this opportunity to be constantly reminded of the Passion of Christ, and to offer up this suffering you feel to Him.

Fear Him, indeed, but don't "fear His anger" like he's some drunken father just waiting for you to slip up and when belt you for it. He is slow to anger and exceeding in mercy, and wants you to be saved much more than even you do. Please reconsider. Suicide is too grave a sin to even joke about.

>it will get MUCH worse if you quit right now.

Or, think about how much better it will get if you persevere until the end.

I will pray for you that you are given the strength to endure your ailments.

Look at it this way: with less God in your life you would gave far more problems and suffer more. With no God in your life you would experience complete corruption and eternal death. Be thank full he has blessed you with life and saved you from complete destruction.

Angry was not the correct word. Furious? Not even close. I was engulfed in an endless cycle of rage and depression directed against God. My animosity was out of the charts.

I didn't accepted my own mortality. My limitations. My cross. Now I live in peace.

Appropriate

Yes. We all get frustrated by the Lord and what He is doing to and in our lives.

Well, those of us who believe that He IS doing things to and in our lives. Those who think we are blown around by the winds of circumstance and other humans' actions, and think God is as well, won't get angry at Him because they'll feel sad for Him that He's as much at the mercy of circumstance and human volition as we are.

The rest of us who know our scriptures enough to know there is no such thing as luck, and that the Lord wilfully claims ownership of all things in our lives, good and bad, eg; Hebrews 12, will struggle, if we're arrogant enough, to understand and accept what He's doing and will get angry at Him.

What we must always remember is that His ways are not our ways, and His understanding is not our understanding, that His 12,284,841,930,216 d chess in managing all things far exceeds our capacity to comprehend, that what seems pointless and meaningless and fruitless and ultimately just excruciatingly painful is really something He is working on and in us, that the change is glacial in its speed and, no, He is very unlikely to tell us exactly what He wants of us. This is the part where that stodgy old word must come into its own: Faith. We must have faith, must remind ourselves daily, that God is working, that He does not lack reasons for every minute detail of what happens in our lives, and that even though we cannot see the fruit of His actions, He can, and we will.

This, to my mind, is the single hardest aspect of the Christian life, enduring the unendurable without cause or reason. I believe this is the place God forges our deeper levels of faith, of reliance on Him and Him alone.

Examine your life: make sure there is no willing or hidden sin. Seek God through prayer and His word. Just get through each day. He will make clearer to you what is to be done.

God doesn't want you to suffer, but being crippled doesn't mean your life is meaningless, maybe you can't get a qt wife and make kids but you can still do other stuff

In old times I had sometimes burst of rage, when I was reading articles and works that depicted God and divinity in extremely materialized form with radically literalistic interpretation of the Bible and various idiotic memes, such as tollhouses.

Then when I actually began to delve into the real stuff, it faded and I realized that I was a retard for having such an idiotic reaction because of several failed and fallible concepts by fallible men.

Toll house theology reads like the Ancient Egyptian Book of the Dead … the idea that when you die you have to outwit a series of demons and then have your heart measured against the feather of maat. Finally you could go to heaven Aaru. Interesting comparisons.

When I was in the depths of my depression and self-hatred, when I was lashing out at those who wanted to help me like a rabid dog, when I was cutting my flesh with knives and desecrating this feeble temple of the Spirit by having homosexual intercourse, when I wanted to throw rocks at the skies in my drunk rage hoping they'd hit Him or in return he'd strike me and leave me dead on the spot…when I was like that, I truly was mad at Him. Then, at 20, when I almost had a heart attack for how always mad and upset with Him and the world I was, He instead sent me a simple priest to tell me how wrong I was, and I cried out all my rage. Now I am getting help for my mental issues, and I am learning (after almost 7 years) to respect myself not for who I am but for what He made me.

>>>BING!!!<<<

360119 No.586266

"Suffering is expiation."

"Suffering is necessary for our souls."

"In suffering we give something to God, which we cannot do in Paradise."

"He who begins to love must be ready to suffer."

"Suffering is a most powerful lever to raise man up again."

"Glory will be ours on condition that we endure suffering."

"The Angels are jealous of us because they can't suffer."

"Bearing physical and spiritual ailments is the worthiest gift we can offer to Jesus."

"Suffering is a sure sign that God loves us."

"Accepting the sufferings we will perfect and sanctify us."

The greater your sufferings, the greater God’s love for you.

When we suffer, Jesus is closer to us.

The storms that are raging around you will turn out to be for God’s glory, your own merit, and the good of many souls.

Every sacrifice which your soul makes, every good it does is directed to God for the sanctification of all.

True and substantial devotion consists in serving God without experiencing any sensible consolation. This means serving and loving God for His own sake.

How unbearable is pain when suffered far from the Cross, but how sweet and bearable it becomes when it is offered close to the Cross of Jesus!

If we earnestly endeavor to love Jesus, this alone will drive all fear from our hearts and soul will find that instead of walking in the Lord’s paths, it is flying.

Don’t be daunted by the cross. The surest test of love consists in suffering for the loved one, and if God suffered so much for love, the pain we suffer for Him becomes as lovable as love itself.

He wants you entirely for Himself, He wants you to place all your trust and all your affection in Him alone and it is precisely for this reason that He send you this spiritual aridity, to unite you more closely to Him.

Jesus is with you even when you don’t feel His presence. He is never so close to you as He is during your spiritual battles. He is always there, close to you, encouraging you to fight your battle courageously. He is there to ward off the enemy’s blows so that you may not be hurt.

-t. Padre Pio
