Why do you think that believers don't perform miracles like they used too?

I don't doubt that some can, Padre Pio healed plenty and even appeared after death to cure a man in my hometown of cancer once (https://www.messengerofpadrepio.com/testimony), but it's an exceedingly rare gift in comparison to what is described in Acts and it's been that way since Acts. So what's up?

First find me a christian who is really a christian. Then we can talk about how the entire modern church and its (((institutions))) are completely corrupt and need to be eradicated from the face of the earth. Then we might get on to how you are supposed to only use healing as a sign 1 corinthians 14:22 and also the specific order of 1 corinthians 12:28. Then there's the fact that luke 16:29-31 exists

>Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets;

let them hear them.

>And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto

them from the dead, they will repent.

>And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets,

neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

Same thing applies to healing.

109924 No.582723

Wew I messed up that greentext

Luke 16:29-31

>Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.

>And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.

>And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

Dickery aside that's a very fair point, but I was specifically referring to visible miracles like those performed by the apostles. Remember that the Eucharist is a miraculous treasure but even Baptists can't see that, much less a nonbeliever.

>>582723

This is true, and Fatima certainly proves it. But I still wonder why they aren't at least more common. Certainly Christianity has saints as pious as Pio living today, yet they do not perform miracles. The only thing I can think of is that nobody is brave enough to try anymore.

f21cd7 No.582752

>>582744

>Did you pray to them for a miracle to happen?

No. If I were to do so I would probably ask Pio for reasons stated, or maybe Aquinas given that he made me a christian in the first place, or just, you know, God, but I don't need one. Why do you ask friend?

Pouring carbolic acid on your hands is a miracle? Did the Vatican verify this

I think he only bought the stuff once and it must have been a pretty small amount–not nearly enough to keep wounds open for one's entire life.

>Le carbolic acid meme

Seriously has nobody on this board ever worked with acids before themselves?

Acids don't make holes they make burn spots.

Bloody hell the idiocy on this board…

Not even because it's Padre Pio (bless his soul though) but because niggas on here are so gullible as long as it proves their point.

I'm going to disprove this shit once and for all here, someone better screencap this shit for future use against stupid niggas.

Carbolic acid is an organic acid knows as phenol.

All organic acids are weak acids, like really weak.

To compare your vinegar salad dressing contains up to 5% ethanoic acid a.k.a. acetic acid, and it only tastes sour.

If you'd do the same with a 5% sodium acid solution you'd be pouring something akin to gastric acid over your bloody vegetables.

To give an idea how weak phenol is I'm going to compare them with the pKa values which you can search for yourself too.

Basically (no pun intended) the bigger the pKa the weaker the acid is.

HCl a.k.a. hydrochloric acid is -7, shit's dangerous.

This will dissolve a lot, and even a bit will cause black burn stains from dissolving matter on clothes or gloves after a minute.

CH3COOH a.k.a. acetic acid is 4,74; that's very weak but is very handy in chemical analysis reactions where you need to dissolve insoluble salts back to cations while not interfering much with the pH or turning other molecules in different ones like CrO4 -> Cr2O7 or something.

Now the moment we've all been waiting for; Phenol has a pKa of….9,95.

Yeah, 9,95. Sure it's still acid but don't even think that this gets used a lot for anything.

Why do you think that it was used as a disinfectant? It's poisonous and a very VERY weak acid so it would kill pathogens but not burn the skin much.

From now on I'm just going to report anyone stupid nigga to lazy to do research themselves and spouts "muh carbolic acid!".

Spoiler related, don't think that Padre Pio's hands looked like this right?

Because now medicine can cure most illnesses and we are living in the Creation of God. Sometimes it's a subtle way of change outcomes.

Let me explain. I ask my father to be cured from pneumonia. Normal medicines don't work. Some new medicine arrives, and he improves instantly. From my viewpoint, I received an answer. The "luck" factor when you have been diligent with ordinary solutions is a miracle for me. Science versus religion is a false dichotomy.

You might even be right that its a evil spirit that does it, but otherwise READ THE BIBLE DEAR PROTESTANT MEMER.

>2 Corinthians 12

>So to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is perfected in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly in my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest on me. That is why, for the sake of Christ, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

>>implying he only used carbolic acid to make those wound marks

The poster I responded to implied this, and many people thing that he did it with carbolic acid.

>that pic, implying he just drenched his hands with acid

This just shows me you never worked with acids before.

That hand is clearly not drenched, that's a spot burn of someone who (probably accidentally) poured some acid over his hand from a container but didn't feel like washing it off.

Also you cannot just put acid somewhere on your body and it will go right through you like in the movies; acid damage goes wide, not deep.

Man, that article is getting into straight up blasphemy against the Holy Spirit territory. The man was so on fire for the Lord that he poured all of his passion into his own repentance, and to claim that he lacked any real remorse when he was crying in the streets over eating meat when he promised not too is absolute nonsense and willful ignorance. His entire spirituality is built around the fact that we are all called to be imitators and images of Christ, soul and, in extraordinary cases, body. And if you need more proof of the validity of the stigmata, once again, Padre Pio, a stigmatic who battled the devil in visions, came back from the dead to heal a man in my hometown of cancer. I understand that your spiritual fathers warned against this stuff, and one saint's visions are certainly not the same as another, but when a blameless man starts receiving untold blessings from the Holy Spirit you need to be open to the possibility that they may have been wrong.

Slander Francis all you like, but leave the stigmata out of it. To be explicit again, a stigmatic who never denied the reality of his gifts appeared after death and cured a man in my hometown of cancer and I encourage you to read all about it in the OP. I'm sorry but reality debunks this article and if you deny that reality then I'm sorry to say you won't be any better off that Pharisees in Matthew 12:22–32.

I have a few medical conditions that can't be fixed with modern medicine. Is there some place to go or someone to meet to help me get better?

f21cd7 No.583083

Lourdes perhaps? Again, these things are exceedingly rare as stated but the only explanation that I can give is that people aren't totally faithful enough to warrant them. Remember, Mary's parents had to pray their whole lives in order to get a child. I'll pray for you though. "O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt."
