03f07e No.581354

Is it wrong to be attracted to girls at church? Some of the girls at my church are pretty hot and it’s hard to not look at them.

4364bf No.581356

No. Why would it be? Thoughts aren't sinful, actions are

bc49b8 No.581357

It is sinful to think about them sexually, as this is considered a form of adultery (Matthew 5:28).

But if want to get into a real, romantic relationship, go nuts.

this article brought up a ton of good points backed with scripture and really made me think:

https://www.jasonstaples.com/bible/most-misinterpreted-bible-passages-1-matthew-527-28/

summary:

>So to sum it up, Matthew 5:27–28 is not a condemnation of lust or sexual desire, nor does it mean that every red-blooded male necessarily sins every time a beautiful woman walks into a room (or onto a movie screen or anywhere else she may appear). On the contrary, “lust” itself is not a sin but leads to sin if it is not properly governed and put under the authority of the Spirit (again, note James 1:14–15).

No, attraction is different from lust, which is attraction deformed.

38ea85 No.581374

There was a saint or church patriarch who specified the minimum covering for converts should be at least the loins.

3dd022 No.581375

Clearly if you look at an attractive woman and have sexual thoughts, then you have a choice. You can indulge in them and begin thinking lustfully about how much you want to satisfy your own desires (fantasising), or you can resist the sexual thoughts .

>>581357

The teaching of Matthew 5:28 is only that lusting after a woman in your thoughts is sinful. Involuntary sexual thoughts are bad, but sin involves choice.

Don't the Orthodox do this to some extent with fasting periods, and requiring that anyone who receives communion must have fasted at least since rising that morning? I think they also stipulate that one should not have intercourse with one's spouse the night before worship.

>Is it wrong to be attracted to girls at church? Some of the girls at my church are pretty hot and it’s hard to not look at them.

No, it's not wrong. The book of life records your deeds, not every errant thought that crosses your mind. God made us as we are, and part of our roles as humans includes finding a woman who can become a wife, and starting a family with her. Jesus did say on many occasions to love others.

>I try not to, the Church is the house of God, how could anyone who fears God do so without immediately begging His pardon?

God has no need of a house. Don't let idolatry cloud your understanding of what it means to have a relationship with God. No location, object, statue, book, or anything of that sort matters. God gave us clear and concise directives to follow, with his understanding that we will falter in our attempts.

>Orthodoxy is the only denomination where men outnumber the women

Could this be at least partially because of the requirement/encouragement to wear a veil in church? The modern female mind rebels against the very idea of this, and I can imagine it remaining a niggle of discontentment amongst all but the most devout Orthodox women. Perhaps it leads the less devout to believe that Orthodoxy is 'nasty and sexist' and so they convert to another church.

You can barely even see young girls in church, churches are mainly full of old people. The only occasions where there are a lot of young people are those charismatic masses and I don't want to have anything to do with a girl who would go to such a mass.

Also, young people who do go to church very often do it out of sheer habit, they don't really live up to the standards they supposedly have.

It's normal to separate woman/men seats in traditional churches.

It used to be the same with the catholic one that woman were at the left and men at the right.

The meaning behind this is that Mary was to the right of Christ, which from our view (looking at the cross) would be our left.

I said most of them are. The ones I've met and the ones I see on the road are. The ones that go clubbing, not so much. Look, these people exist everywhere. The amount of "pure" girls are decreasing. When they leave the country they go crazy because they're "free from the shackles of the patriarchy and religion which was holding them down", they're stronk independent wamen who can screw whomever they want. Regarding the Syrians, I haven't met many Syrian girls to come to a conclusion. However, seeing as most of the prostitutes in the country are Syrian, I would beg to differ.

Depends on where you live. I think you would be better off staying where you are. Tensions in Lebanon are still high, and they are kind of increasing with the protests in Iran, since we have Hezbollah here. Living here is "okay", but I think it would be hard for you since you aren't used to the place. Driving here is crazy, the drivers don't follow the law and sperg out most of the times.
