How do I become Catholic in secret? I want to start RCIA and get baptized, and then when I am out of college and move away from my parents in 3-½ years, I can start attending mass by myself. However, I don't know if I'd be doing the right thing in skipping mass for so long. Even if I can find a church that has hours that don't coincide with my dad's evangellyfish church, I'd still have to deal with Holy Days of Obligation. What should I do about that? Should I just lay low? Would I be living in sin if I stayed away for until I can be Catholic un-secretly? Does "we must obey God rather than men" apply here?

Pic unrelated, but a good pill to share with fag-lovers.

400d4b No.576755

You can always just tell your family, "I want to go to a different church."

No. I get kicked out of the house.

mooching off of them under false pretenses?

I must become Catholic. I also don't want to throw my life away. I don't know how to move out, and my dad definitely isn't going to show me how when he finds out the reasons.

1af94f No.576774

>How do I become Catholic in secret?

You can't, the whole point of catholicism is to show off your ability and skill to go against matthew 6:1-8. Become a christian instead and read the Bible more.

> I want to start RCIA and get baptized, and then when I am out of college and move away from my parents in 3-½ years, I can start attending mass by myself.

If you are white don't stay in college if it means indebtedness to the world. If not white then you should have little problem clearing the debt but be weary of staying in said debt for too long.

>I don't know if I'd be doing the right thing in skipping mass for so long. Even if I can find a church that has hours that don't coincide with my dad's evangellyfish church, I'd still have to deal with Holy Days of Obligation. What should I do about that? Should I just lay low?

Where in the Bible is the "holy days of obligation" thingy justified or allowed? Just read the Bible more if you can't attend a synogogue of revelation 2:9.

>Would I be living in sin if I stayed away for until I can be Catholic un-secretly?

Yes but not because of catholicism, but because anything not of faith is sin romans 14:23.

>Does "we must obey God rather than men" apply here?

In what manner? What exactly in the Bible do you think you are breaking by not being 1 corinthians 5:6-8'ed ?

OP, your lack of commitment is disgusting. I'm putting aside my differences with Roman Catholicism to tell you this. If God is telling you that that's the truth, and you believe it, quit floundering like some queer!

You think that the trials you're facing can compare at all with those experienced by the early martyrs, or you know, Jesus Christ?

*Romans 1:16*

>For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth!

You need to get right with God. Now. Quit being a little bitch, your effeminate ways disgust me.

Matthew 10:

34"Do not think that I have come to send peace upon the earth; I have come to bring a sword, not peace.

35 For I have come to set a man at variance with his father, and a daughter with her mother, and a daughter-in-law with her mother-in-law;

36 and a man's enemies will be those of his own household.

37 He who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he who loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

38 And he who does not take up his cross and follow me, is not worthy of me.

39 He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for my sake, will find it.

You know what you must do.

>How do I become Catholic in secret?

Even if I thought becoming Catholic is good, doing it in secret is going to help you.

>become Catholic

Why?

>my dad's evangellyfish church

Funny you use "evangellyfish", because the guy who created that word is not Catholic at all. I have his book. Great author and thinker.

>Does "we must obey God rather than men" apply here?

The question is what does God command?

>>576769

>I must become Catholic.

God demands you become Christian and preach the right Gospel. Why do you think Roman Catholicism is the only way to go?

Be prudent. Also, skipping mass itself is not a grave sin, God told us to sanctify Sunday, the Church said the best way to do it is go to mass and you should go to mass whenever possible.

For now, just pray extra long and hard every Sunday and you will fulfill your obligation to God, go to mass when the circumstances allow you to. Don't worry, it'll be fine. I don't think any priest will tell you to tell your parents and get kicked. Learn to pray the rosary if you can, pray it every Sunday.

Douglas Wilson? He didn't invent the word though, did he? It's been around for a good couple of decades.

Remember to be innocent like a dove and cunning as a viper. If you think your dad will act in an unchristian way then prepare for that possibility before breaking the news. You also need to equip yourself by studying the Bible so you can refute any slander that will come your way.

0ec9a1 No.576909

>Also, skipping mass itself is not a grave sin

Unless you have a good reason for not going (sickness, no mass close by) it is a mortal sin.

>>576753

Lying is always a sin. When you go to mass don't lie about what you're doing. If they don't ask you don't have to tell.

0236b7 No.576912

>>576909

Eh I should've been clearer. Under his circumstances, I seriously doubt it is a mortal sin because I suppose his situation counts as grave inconvenience.

wasn't meant to be, the other way i typed that sentence sounded like an insult "much dumber than you," but i didn't mean it to be, so i thought a bizarre out of place compliment would be better.

ceead7 No.576920

>>576909

Oh no, I absolutely won't lie. But do you think I'll tell if he doesn't ask? Jesus didn't tell those men going to Emmaus that He was Jesus.

Now, a srs question: I have found three churches that have RCIA/Mass/Holy Day schedules that would let me go after school without raising any suspicion. Is there anything else that I need?

c45208 No.576921

>>576753

If anyone asks just don't say anything. Just don't lie. You don't have to tell everyone though. Go to evening mass instead. Talk to a priest about your circumstances but it is very possible to become secretly as long as you don't lie.

ceead7 No.576922

>>576921

I will not lie, brother (do we call each other "brother"?). It's just that I would rather fulfill my debt-free goal of infiltrating the social sciences than not (at least I'll would be one less liberal influence on students), and all I have to do is not say anything to my dad. I leave the house to work out, to buy peanut butter, and to go to the college campus. What will he suspect when my workouts begin to last longer? Nothing. He is very libertarian.

a446ad No.576928

>>576753

for the time being I don't find anything wrong in hiding your powerlevel. But I can attest I am a coward. May you ask to your priest instead?

Many Catholics live without going to church for many years, but they are still part of the Church. So, once you are in you will find time eventually to find salvation.

0ec9a1 No.576938

>>576922

> (do we call each other "brother"?).

The person I refer to ask my brother is the person who I'm biologically related to. I don't really care though.

>It's just that I would rather fulfill my debt-free goal of infiltrating the social sciences than not (at least I'll would be one less liberal influence on students),

So your dad won't pay for your school if you're Catholic?

ceead7 No.576939

>>576928

But isn't that a sin?

a446ad No.576945

>>576939

Without a doubt. But there are many things that are sinful. And all can be forgiven.

I would recommend that you do not try anything that is beyond your strength. Because you could hurt yourself and take a long time to recover. That happened to me :)

0ec9a1 No.576946

>>576928

>>576945

Shit advice. Yes we all sin. No it isn't ok. The smallest venial sin is worse than all the suffering and death caused by nature. Catholics who know the Church's teachings and ignore them will go to hell.

a446ad No.576952

>>576946

I have found many people to be disaffected, even angry with God because they misunderstood what God is.

Usually happens in a crisis when young, and it's never forgotten. I just hope he does not get overloaded with responsibilities, and get lost later by something similar.

a446ad No.576958

>>576952

Having said that, may God separate me from suggesting him to commit even the smallest sin. And if I have, I apologize.

c8fc93 No.576995

You're sure about that?

ceead7 No.577020

>>576958

Don't fret over me, brother. I'm going to church, and you aren't going to stop me.

0666c5 No.577075

History is replete with Catholics who had to worship in secret because of repression. There's no sin in doing the same. Or keeping the peace with your family.

But it may be a calling from God to move out and be your own man. Don't know your age or circumstances but if your family forces you to hide your faith for fear of retribution and ostracism they can't be much of a family. Get a job. Save your money. Move out out and be your own man. Let your family deal with you on your terms. And stop hiding your faith.

Good luck and God bless.
