Judge H. Paul Pressler, of Houston, the darling of the Southern Baptist Convention and architect of the damaging "Conservative Resurgence" is being sued for the rape of a minor, Mr. Duane Rollins. As this story surfaces, more and more victims are coming forward. Rollins' lawyer is calling this "the worst kept secret in Houston."

Pressler has been a director of the Salem Media Group since March 2002,  and is also a board member of the Free Market Foundation and KHCB Network, a non-profit corporation which owns Christian radio stations in Texas and Louisiana, and a board member of National Religious Broadcasters. He is deeply connected to national politics and sits on a number of boards. This story is effectively being buried.

The lawyer, Daniel Shea was the man who sued the Pope some years back. He can be reached at djs7500@aol.com or 832.647.3612 for comment.

The court documents reference a settled 2004 case where Mr. Rollins was assaulted by Judge Pressler in a Dallas hotel room.

Before you post, check if your denom has been accused of the same thing.

We'll see how it goes. Innocent before proven guilty, and we all know how those 'he raped me 15 years ago ree' cases tend to swing, regardless of whether the deed was done.

protestants need to get their act together, geez

That's a shame, but there's no reason to play up the "Southern Baptist Convention" thing. Every denomination has had someone doing something horrible. It's the result of being an imperfect species in a perfect creation.

I think the difference here, really, is that those men went to prison instead of being transferred to a new parish. Just sayin.

the Church is free of sin, it is only plagued by liars and servants of Satan who look to exploit her in false accusations

Who would have thought?

Do you see how Baptists could claim the same thing? >>576585

>Pressler is a leader in the “conservative resurgence” in the Southern Baptist Convention, which seeks to push back against perceived liberal influence in the Baptist church. Several pages of Rollins’ suit attempt to discredit the theology of the resurgence, arguing that Pressler and others seek power over women and children.

what the heck

Jude 1:4

For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

Ungodly unbelievers using the cloak of God's grace and Christian trust to commit lustful acts. As it was in the days of Jude, so shall it be today.

It's like how in Pizzagate so many of the people whose jobs it is to protect children were themselves involved with the sex rings.

I think that it happens a lot on the local level and never makes the news. In the county where I currently live a child protection services employee ( employed by the county with state money and mostly working with the public school systems) was caught doing very bad things with the kids over a 15 year period. He will never get out of jail. The story and the trial got very little coverage in printed or broadcast media. I do live out in the middle of nowhere though.

>In 2008, Shea, a former Catholic deacon, settled a lawsuit with the Roman Catholic Diocese of Galveston and Houston, accusing Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger — who later became Pope Benedict XVI — of conspiring to obstruct justice. Now he represents a client alleging similar mistreatment during the late 20th century movement in the SBC credited with delivering America’s largest Protestant group from the political center to the Religious Right under the banner of biblical “inerrancy.

Dang OP nice sources. Pic somewhat related, just needed to lighten the mood.

Roughly 5% of the general population are pedophiles. It's statistically inevitable that any organization will eventually unintionally hire pedophiles, and another statistical inevitability that some of those pedophiles will use their positions to molest children. This fact has no bearing whatsoever on the moral teachings of the institution itself, except by way of guilt by association, which is a logical fallacy. Christianity teaches that child molestation is wrong. When someone uses a position in a church to molest children, you can't condemn that church or its teachings for a member acting against the teachings against the will of the church. Doing so is irrational.

700b63 No.576910

I just hope this humbles those protestants who like to be very vindictive about slandering other churches for child abuse. Innocent until proven guilty.

Maybe because there wasn't even many catholics in that area

Also your church defends them instead if firing them

You can't ever be sure. Only God knows what is in men's hearts. You can't tell a pedo by looking and it's not like the pedo puts it on his resume.

Sadly, sex crimes among Protestant leaders is probably more widespread than Catholics. I'm a Prot and we can't afford to be smug about this. We need to clean our houses of abusers.
