>should catholics celebrate Christmas like in Orthodox Church in January ?
No and not all Orthodox celebrate it in January only Georgians, Russians and Serbs due to "muh special snowflake" autism and its actually quite irritating as well
Honestly the only way to """defend""" (thought it doesnt need one) the holiday is for us to remove marketing and red santa claus memes and actually concentrate on nativity and importance of Jesus. Nothing more
Also, yes, 25th December was Chosen, because its the day when day becomes longer, thus some fagans thought that "sun was born" and since Jesus is "sun of righteousness" and "light of this world", Church thought that celebration of nativity on this date would explain importance of Jesus to pagans more accurately and it would be fit as well. But other than date, nothing of faganism had influenced on the holiday
>Inb4 Christmas tree
Sacred tree for fagans was oak, while pine tree/cedar that is the "Christmas tree" is biblical and is mentioned numerous times in psalms. (ex: "The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.")
