Glory to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit!

I wanted to make this thread to ask what you all thought mystic practices and theology, within and without Christianity, such as hesychasm, contemplative prayer, and various Christian mystics such as Meister Eckhart, and things like Kabbalah, Neo-Platonism, Sufism, Vedantic Yoga, and Zazen.

Personally I've been somewhat obsessed with learning about mysticism and esotericism, even if I don't practice any of it myself. I think it's a very interesting topic.

Christianity is inherently mystical, with the Trinity, the real presence in the Eucharist, the sacraments, contemplative prayer, hesychasm…

Kabbalah, Neo-Platonism, and Sufism are literally just Gnostic trash.

>Mysticism

Can be ok, but exercise caution.

>Esotericism

Stay as far away from it as possible.

If you want real mystics I can recommend you two:

St. Teresa of Avila

John of the Cross

But you will only find pure devotion, no mysteries or secret teachings.

One minute you're meditating with a gay crystal or whatever it is you hippies do, next you're a 33rd degree freemason bleeding a goy child at some UN black mass in the name of Lucifer. Stay away from witchcraft you nerds.

Don't forget St Symeon the New Theologian, he's kino. And St Gregory of Nazianzus.

You already made mention of John of the Cross… Yeah, he's great. St Macarius the Great, St John of the Ladder, and St John Cassian

are of course also great.

occult/esoteric practices are mind games

but can be dangerous for mental health

If you dont know how to work with your mind

or you have fears then better stay away from it
