The Bible tells us to obey government (unless it tells us to sin), but not to take part in it or try to control it. It emphasizes unworldliness. Not being too attached to the things of the world and recognizing that God's kingdom is not of this world. The impression that I get is that we are to maintain some detachment from government. We are just here for a short time. When people get too wrapped up in politics they end up excusing evil when 'their team' is responsible. Look at some of Trump's behavior, and how Christians and conservatives defend or ignore it.
I would not say Christianity is anarchistic exactly, but I see where people get that. I see it as more 'apolitical' in a sense. Not that we don't care what government does but we recognize that it not our focus what earthly governments do. Our most important citizenship is in heaven.

I think participating in democracies is okay to try to minimize damage by voting for the lesser evil. However that should not be seen as an endorsement, but as the least bad option.
