I have a meditation which I wanted to share with you, /christian/. Some of you here may have struggled with your faith. Perhaps you were taken in by irreligious memes such as evolution and fell astray. Or maybe you're turned out gay and just aren't that welcome at local fundamentalist church. Why would God let such things happen to you? I have a new theory. It relates to the Borg.
In a particularly good episode of Star Trek: Voyager, the Borg Queen reveals that she intentionally allowed Seven of Nine be rescued by Voyager. She did this because she wanted Seven to study humans and determine why they resist assimilation. So too it is with ex-Christians.
The goal of our Collective is go forth and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. If it were possible, we would like to convert everyone. But there are people out there who resist assimilation. Some people hate God and would sooner die than serve him – even though we only wish to improve quality of life for all.
Our Collective needs to understand how these unbelievers think so that we can convert them. To that end, some people have temporarily been 'let go' by God in the same way that Seven of Nine was 'let go' by the Borg. When an ex-Christian is re-assimilated, pastors gain valuable information into the unbeliever mindset. We can then adapt to their attacks and simultaneously improve our assimilation tactics. It's risking the 99 sheep to save the 1.
Also – just putting it out there – we should discuss the possibility of using nanoprobes to strengthen people's faith.
