It's been a bit since I've seen one of these threads. In this thread, we compliment a denomination (or denominations) that we are not. I'll begin.

>Baptist

I grew up Baptist, and some of the people I've met who are most enthusiastic and most on fire for Christ have been Baptists.

>Presbyterians

I always thought your emblem looked cool, and you have a really great hymnal.

>Anglicans

Book of Common Prayer is a genius idea, and I wish every denomination had something similar. Also, you have probably the best English translation of the liturgy

>Methodists

My ex was Methodist and I still don't hate you guys, so you must be doing something right.

>Eastern Orthodox

One of the most profound services I have ever had the joy of attending. Also your churches smell really nice.

>Roman Catholic

Your commitment and zeal for unity is very admirable. Also, in general, you all have the best architecture.

I don't have a lot of experience with other denominations, so I'll leave it off there. I look forward to seeing what everyone has to say. It's Christmas time, so let's have some kind and loving fellowship.

Mormons have a nice aesthetic

888653 No.573910

Baptists in my University town always seem to be the ones approaching students to study the most often. Good on you guys.

c65d9e No.573911

Methodists have a saying: "He who sings prays twice." I like that.

f530fd No.573913

Baptists, your zeal is inspiring

31c66a No.573914

Actually, that's St. Augustine. Nice of them to bring it up though.

97a313 No.573918

>Baptist

Wait, I am baptist!

>Presbies

Fellow Calvinists who are merely wrong about baptismal immersion

>Anglicans

They produced the likes of C.S. Lewis, a Christian T.S. Eliot, Christina Rossetti, and Peter Hitchens

>Methodists

Charles Wesley wrote some mighty fine hymns

>Eastern Orthodox

One of your own was a Calvinist. :^)

Joking aside, a lot of you seem to sincerely embrace sola fide.

>Roman Catholic

ST. CHESTERTON

b68d0f No.573919

>Catholics

Christmas is a nice holiday, and you gave us that, so thank you.

>Orthodox

You read the Bible even though you are apostolic. That is pretty cool and unique.

>Anglicans

Uh, CS Lewis was a good dude.

>Amish

You churn nice butter and make good hand-built furniture, and generally mind your own business.

>Mormons

Genuinely friendly people.

>Catholics

I miss u guys and I want the schism to end, also I like scholasticism and Assisi

>Anglicans

Luther was funny

>Calvinists

Your doctrines fit my brain perfectly, but unfortunately Orthodoxy has my heart, and it is the heart that vivifies the whole body

>Anglicans

Uh, you're the historical Church of England I guess

>Methodists

You didn't really mean to have a schism with the Anglicans

>Oriental Orthodox

I MISS U GUYS AND I WANT THE SCHISM TO END

also you're so pious

>Baptists

You're pious and knowledgeable, unlike some of the falseflaggers on this board

Denomination, not heresy.

b68d0f No.573925

>>573923

Most of us consider each other to be heretics already anyway.

5ffb36 No.573928

>>573925

Good point

8c6d44 No.573935

>>573925

I think there's theological difference vs blatant heresy and lies, which is always a scandal. Look up the "Book of Abraham" which was a generic Egyptian burial papyrus. Time has borne out the resurrection, it has not done so with Joe Smith. Now, this isn't to constrain the mercy of Christ - he will have mercy on who he will. But as Christians, we can't say Joe Smith was a prophet, and have to separate from Mormons, in the same way we would from the Nicolaitans. See 2 Peter 1:16-18 on Truth. Our denominational differences exist, but the Mormons and JWs and such are just another level.

6f7e3e No.573938

>>573923

>>573925

>>573928

I think the difference is that Mormonism is not merely a different sort of Christian denomination, but can’t truly be considered Christian. They believe in the existence of multiple Gods: The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are each individual Gods, every God was originally a human, and so good Mormons can also aspire to Godhood. Mormonism is about as Christian as Gnosticism is.

31c66a No.573940

>>573935

Pretty much this is my position. I typically use the Nicene creed as my mark for Christianity. Either explicit adoption as a Creed (most denominations) or implicit agreement with it (such as Baptists).

8c6d44 No.573941

Oh, and:

> Catholics

Scholastic analysis leads to compelling apologetics and you all do amazing mission work

> Orthodox

Probably best preservation of the faith and liturgy.

> Methodists

Basically wrote all the best hymns in English

> Baptist

Right about baptism by immersion being best, also know the Bible really well

> Lutheran

Really, really nice. Also only one who can compete with EO beard-wise

> Generic Evangelical

You all really love Christ. Also Francis Chan is pretty cool

These are all the ones I know pretty well

>Anglicans

>Methodists

Nice people who are really friendly

>Easter orthodox

Cool af aesthetics

047e2b No.573984

I admire Babtist for being the most extremely passionate about the faith

>Orthodox

9dde50 No.574215

>Anglicans

As mentioned by others, I really like the well-done English translations. We should definitely have more Anglican Use liturgy in the Catholic church.

>Baptists

Seems like they are very passionate about faith, and I also read a set of "fundamental" beliefs on a Baptist church website once and agreed with most of them

>Eastern Orthodox

I highly respect them (obviously) and wish schism could end. I wish you guys would be stronger and more universal, instead of having ethnic communities, you open it wide for everyone. I would not mind at all if every Protestant in America converted to Eastern Orthodoxy.

> Evangelicals and Protestants in general

It's great that you actually read the Bible and actually are passionate about it. Catholics need to be better about this.

>Presbyterians

I only know one guy really well who was an ex-Presbyterian, and the reasoning and logic seems fairly sound.

>Methodists

Not sure I've met any of these guys

>Pentecostals

Lolll, they are pretty passionate and faithful I guess in their own ways

>Latin Rite Catholics

Pretty swell folks, a well-done Western Rite liturgy is really great and meditative in different ways. Also "Eucharistic Adoration" is awesome, and also the moment when the priest lifts the bread very very high as it becomes body of Christ is fantastic, nothing like that in Byzantine Rite as far as i know

de0b18 No.574269

>>573919

Anglicans also gave us the KJV (technically God gave it to us but he used them to do it). So, thanks Anglos!
