People became less religious and more materialistic. Santa brought presents, so the focus shifted to materialism.

He was considered a more acceptable sales mascot than Jesus. Could you imagine commercials about Jesus trying to sell you shit you don't need or particularly want? Anarchy would ensue.

I genuinely hate watching TV or listening to the radio around Christmas time because they've turned it into another capitalistic and materialistic holiday.

They make it out like the whole point of the """holiday""" (they won't even say Christmas) is to exchange gifts.

I don't know, when in doubt I blame the Jews for this kind of stuff.

It is disturbing that people would appropriate the birth of Christ / The Incarnation and make it about one of the greatest defenders of Christ's divinity, while stripping him of any of the saintly / theological details and only keeping the stuff about him being generous.
