Who here /never felt God/?

I always hear about people trying to say they've felt God/Jesus, or seen him while praying, but I've never gotten a thing

still devout though

Bro, it's not about feeling. You have to believe. Don't try to feel God, many Church fathers and saints spoke against an emotional approach to God, partly because demons can influence you that way. This whole thing about feelings is a thoroughly modern thing, starting with the freaking pentecostals at the start of the 20th century.

This isn’t meant to be an attack on you, but do you pray for others? I don’t do it a lot, but I prayed for some anons in the large families thread yesterday, and I felt a sudden feeling of warm spiritual bliss. It felt like grace

I've never really prayed; only when stuff was looking really bad

Even when I did I never got anything

I actually try not to pray unless I actually need help; to me praying is desperation, not bad, but not good

To me to ask God for help seems selfish, but only for me to ask for Gods help; I have to qualm with anyone else praying

does the feeling that someone is actually listening and you're not just talking to yourself while praying count?

that's the closest thing i remember feeling.

Prayer doesn't have to be just for asking things from God.

I've never felt God, not really. I live around charismatics and pentecostals, and I feel like a lot of the people who do that are giving into emotionalism. That's not to say that God never speaks with people in such a way, but I refuse to let my emotions get out of control and fool myself.

The reason God created us to is to please and serve him. If you're not doing that, you'll get on his bad side. Terry recommends creating hymns. I think it's a good idea. Perhaps you will feel God's presence if you do that a lot.

n*gga wut.

Learn2pray. It isn't only asking for God's help. And even then, that's not necessarily a bad thing depending on the context/content of the prayer ofc in fact the bible tells you specifically to do this.

You gotta pray, bro. It's incredibly important to talk to God so you can maintain a relationship with him. Right now you're trying to be friends with a guy you never talk to except to ask for things. That don't work. Try praying to thank God, or to praise him, or to ask for forgiveness. Those things aren't selfish, but they increase your connection to God very efficiently.

You really should pray more. When you do, you're talking to someone who knows every last thing about you, and exactly how you feel. It can help you be more honest with yourself.

> I prayed for some anons in the large families thread yesterday, and I felt a sudden feeling of warm spiritual bliss. It felt like grace

I once created a thread about reading the Bible on some random board, then few days later some poster told me they got encouraged by it and found their way back to God.

A second later a huge surge of warmth and love ran through my heart. Totally unexpected.

Aliens must repent and believe the Gospel. That is all.

oops. wrong thread.

72cbd3 No.572609

you don't feel God, that's protestant nonsense which is most likely the devil makingthem feel good. this jeopardizes their salvation because they are content being outside the church of Christmas. they feel justified and claim they have the holy spirit because they feel good and since they have the holy spirit they are infallible interpreters of the scriptures and are able to determine which books are scriptures or not.

God cab give consolations but they are not God. He gives consolations because you need then and if you don't get them it's because you don't need them so be happy Christmas has made you strong.

5d4214 No.572791

you must avoid seeking out "feelings" when in prayer. very dangerous

5302dd No.572805

I don't feel any warmth or fuzziness or see apparitions or anything, but if I spend a considerable time in prayer and (lone) worship, I'll come out of it feeling focused and fresh. this is a side effect, though, not my goal.

e4c19d No.572849

>christmas

did you mean Christ? Also

>you can't feel God's presence

>Implying that God isn't present

Also

>Le not God, just devil meme

So, you're saying that in a place filled with crosses and people singing praise to the one true God, demons are still powerful enough to pretend to be God, even though the bible gives a surefire way to test spirits for godliness that you can preform with the slightest thought?

>This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God,

1 John 4:2

So, you're saying that, even though the feelings and presences all point to Jesus Christ, it's not true because we aren't catholic? Even though the Bible literally says that every spirit which does so is God or is from him?

>you don't feel God, that's protestant nonsense

I can sense faith in people.

I quickly tell apart evangelists preaching just to enrich themselves but not believing anything they say, people with really strong faith and normal people just in-between.

Misdirected people with strong faith are the best ones to be converted to Christianity BTW.
