Any scholarly sources? This would be huge in the archeology world so… why only youtube videos and newsletters. They could've easily been taken in by the hoax.

From what I gathered, the crossing of the Red Sea Site has been independently authenticated by seven academic researchers, led by Dr Lennart Moller of the Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden in his highly acclaimed book, The Exodus Case.

The seven people who contributed to the book are: Dr. Lennart Moller, Dr. Manfred Bietak, Professor Ken Kitchen, Dr. Ebba M. During, Professor Alan Millard, Rabbi Manis Friedman, Dr. Gregor Hodgson.

I haven't read the book myself, but that seems like the only source, excluding peoples testimonies in several videos, I could find that's "scholarly."

I don't know. Maybe it has a similar response as to why there is a guard house, government sign, and fence around the front of mount Sinai (Jebel el Lawz) in Arabia.
