Literally nobody has ever been converted by taking part in an internet fight. Prove me wrong please____

61cb00 No.562632

You are correct.

3bf29e No.562640

yes no, maybe i don't know

5e3baf No.562642

>>562604

Of course, but the point of it is to remind others that there is an alternative path by placing a seed of doubt in their head. For every poster, there are several lurkers.

I'm not taking about the audience, I'm talking about those who get mad and argue from butthurt

d51623 No.562667

There's numerous people on this board that have converted to other denominations (mostly Catholicism from my experience) due to being here.

06676c No.562668

>>562667

But how many of them converted after being part of a heated argument?

7c4cec No.562671

>>562668

debates are usually to influence for watchers, not participants

e1cd2a No.562673

Can you repeat the question?

I know that I personally have had my opinion changed in an internet argument.

f57e50 No.562679

>>562667

I'm pretty sure Jesuits come on here making threads sometimes like they're just about to be convinced to become Catholic and then magically they are decisively convinced by the wonderful arguments. I'm not sure how effective it has been in making an impact on other people considering how transparent the attempts appear to be from the outside.

cbee82 No.562695

Internet "fights" aren't about winning, it's about showing the audience who is wrong. That's why personal attacks don't work, people who actually read the entire argument understand when someone is being retarded.

8ed0d9 No.562727

If you're talking about this place, then these things have in fact changed my opinion about several important things

It worked with me, i wouldn't have take it seriously nor would have had so many of the usual demotivating questions answered if it wasn't for this board.

65aff6 No.562735

No, but arguing can be fun if you get a good or extremely upset opponent. It's useful when the two sides start sourcing claims because then that segways into research and learning. Even if you're too pigheaded to question your own stance as I am you can slowly learn how to make your arguments more solid.

Arguing hasn't converted me to anything really, but it has led to a better understanding of why people believe differently and what their reasoning is so I don't just fly off the handle all red faced over it as much. I get where they're coming from a little better where as before I could believe they were just some automaton malicious force sent by Satan to annoy me.

c0f809 No.562780

>Implying debates can't sway someone

827b28 No.562782

Debate can change your mind about little things, but not about big things. It takes probably hundreds or thousands of good discussions for conversion.

i fuggin lol'd when i first saw this pic, but it's impact significantly lessened when i read it again/properly and noticed the exclamation mark at the end, can any digital whizkid make an edit to the pic to remove and improve? as it is it sounds silly and playful whereas removing the exclamation mark makes it sound much more sinister (and funny) i assume it's a meme used by atheists to disrespect christianity but i still find it funny have some more memes our of Lord in return

Yeah, it implies that Jesus caused the apocalypse that he is coming to save us from, when it's that Mankind was provoked into it. But it's clearly a light joke on it.

Yeah, because this board has a medieval view of non-Catholic viewpoints, namely "No"

Overt and VERY unchristian hate mongering of athiests, Jews, gays, and whoever else is okey dokey

But anyone who repeat the wrong ideas gets lambasted for being somehow unchristian. Read this board long enough, you'll start to believe Muslims are more Christian than Lutherans.

Part of my decision to convert to Catholicism came from people on this board and elsewhere's arguments.

9aace3 No.564003

>Yeah, because this board has a medieval view of non-Catholic viewpoints, namely "No"

If you're a Catholic, then the RCC is the one, holy, apostolic Church. By being Catholic, you cannot accept any illicit substitutes. It's literally part of the faith. Sorry.

>Overt and VERY unchristian hate mongering of athiests, Jews, gays, and whoever else is okey dokey

Such as? We cannot accept them on their terms, we cannot accept their sin. Atheists are wrong, Jews lost their covenant when they killed Christ on the Cross, and homosexuals shall not inherit the Kingdom of God.

Sorry.

A blasphemous game series made me buy a Bible, and now I'm Christian. Everything is possible !

"The gameplay comprises first-person exploration of dungeons and battles against demons; the player can also choose to speak to the demons, and attempt to recruit them to their party. By fusing multiple allied demons together, the player can create more powerful demons. The story is set decades after the first Shin Megami Tensei, in the encapsulated city Tokyo Millennium, which is ruled by the religious Messians from a unit called the Center. The player takes the role of a gladiator who is told that he is the Messiah, and is sent on missions around Tokyo Millennium to eradicate demons and prepare for the Thousand-Year Kingdom. The plot is influenced by choices the player makes throughout the game, determining their moral alignment."

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shin_Megami_Tensei_II

"The story follows a nameless protagonist who lives in near-future Tokyo. When a portal to the realm of demons is opened, United States officials order a nuclear attack on Tokyo. Transported with two other supporting characters thirty years into the future, the protagonist finds the Earth ruined by a demon invasion, which is now the stage for an escalating conflict between the Order of Messiah and the Ring of Gaea, conflicting cults who wish to bring about kingdoms for their respective patron deities (YHVH and Lucifer). The story is influenced by moral decisions the protagonist makes, aligning him either with the Order, the Ring of Gaea, or setting him up as an independent agent."

SMT's depiction of Law is essentially Judaism. If you ignore all the crosses everywhere, the Messians are literal Zionists trying to bring out the earthly messiah. Very funny, Japanese somehow blundered their way into an accurate depiction of Jews.

43017c No.564010

>>564008

Yeah I figured that too ! But the fact that we use demons, and incarn a Jesus like figure is bugging me now

9aace3 No.564011

>>564010

As long as you only accept it as wacky Japanese fiction, it's fine. The actual idea that many of the "old Gods" are just demons is actually congruent with Catholic demonology too.
