If you really want to understand Varg you need to read his book Vargsmal (Speech of the Wolf) http://www.burzum.com/burzum/library/text/vargsmal/.
You can psychoanalytically deconstruct his entire persona and worldview if you read that book with a basic understanding of pyschology as it relates to the Christian worldview.
I don't want to pull a bunch of quotes, but what you have with young Varg is a pathologically pyschopathic, narcissistic person with a dead interior life and lacking the ability to restrain himself (ex: the same year he murdered a man was the same year he impregnated a woman).
I think this speaks clearly enough (from the section "Education"):
"The grade school took my life, and life's joy. After I finished I never really had a wish to live, never found real pleasure in life."
I think it's telling that this is from the last chapter of his book. He spends all the preceding pages showcasing himself as a heroic nationalist willing to murder and writing out his filosofem, but in reality he's just a young man deeply hurt from his father abandoning him. Notice that in that same chapter he writes almost lovingly about his father showing him how to whittle with a pocketknife.
And yes - would you have guessed that a troubled person like Varg would have had a troubled relationship with his father?:
"Vikernes reveals slightly more in his interview . . . When asked about his father, Vikernes' father is said to have "left about 10 years ago", which would have been 1985, when Vikernes was 12." http://murderpedia.org/male.V/v/vikernes-varg.htm
Vargs father is the smoking gun from our perspective:
https://www.amazon.com/Faith-Fatherless-Psychology-Paul-Vitz/dp/1586176870
"Vitz offers a radical new thesis about the psychological origins of atheism. By studying the lives of numerous famous atheists, from the old atheists Nietzsche, Sartre, and Freud to the new atheists Hitchens, Dawkins, and Dennet, Vitz discovers a startling common pattern: atheism arises in people with dead, absent, or abusive fathers. By contrast, prominent defenders of religious belief-including Blaise Pascal, John Henry Newman, and G.K. Chesterton-were blessed with attentive, loving and caring fathers."
E Michael Jones talks about this, see The Rise and Fall of the New Athiesm.

Also read the chapter 'Life and Death Fight', it proves to us that Varg basically gave himself up to demonic forces before he went to Oslo to commit murder (in other words he's being dishonest when he claims innocence):
"Before I went to Oslo I burned a picture of him where a friend of mine, who didn't like him either, had written, "death to the read rat," with a magical pen."
"Why he became so scared when I came to wake him up can be due to three things; . . . the burning of the picture with the curse on it. When he heard my voice in the distance he became full of wonder, and stood merely to wait for what I would do – and of this reason didn't do anything. Then I came in and he saw me and it was then he became terrified, for he saw the fire in my eyes – a vision my subconscious through my eyes conveyed to him."
Notice how he sadistically recounts his murder (the fatherless Marquise de Sade would enjoy reading this…)
"A slash with the knife in his skull did away with his whimpering. (he didn't die from the knife wound in the chest as the coroner claimed, I know it, for he died the moment I slashed his skull! . . . The knife stuck in him and I had to take it out with force!"
Varg would be INCREDIBLY EASY to demolish if someone like E Michael Jones would steamroll him on youtube. Especially if he went into Varg being essentially a materialist at heart (ex. "Race is a function of biology. It is a creation of the biological materialism which found its most prominent spokesman in Charles Darwin. Materialism is based on the primacy of matter, and matter, as everyone Trained in thomistical philosphy knows, is the principle of differentiation. matter, therefore, cannot lead to unity.").
There's no saving this guy, he's a malicious person with sinister motives. Pray for his children.
