Looking for the alternative reading of this concept:
Romans 12 calls all Christians as individuals to forgive, but Romans 13 affirms the authority of government and government is never called to forgive. Governments therefore can execute criminals or wage war, but individuals can't commit a vigilante honor killing like batman, or the muslim practice of pushing sodomites off of rooftops.
This seems correct, but I'm having difficulty pinning down when the government is legitimate. Did the leadership of a single American Indian tribe have this power? What about a clearly corrupt govt like Zimbabwe after the fall of Rhodesia?
Dr. Jeffress of First Baptist Dallas discussed this topic recently on Pres. Trump's authority to wage war against a threat from North Korea: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qldfVMsY1hM
