What does God and the bible think of misanthropy? Can someone who dislikes his fellow man greatly be saved?

No, You cant truly love God if you dont love His children made in His image and likeness

>36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

>37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

>38 This is the first and great commandment.

>39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

>40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

As long as he is Baptist.

what you like and dislike does not matter, you can change them to a point but obviously not everything. If you live a holy life, you will tend to like holy things and dislike worldly things, so you're responsible a bit if you act on your likes or dislikes. However that is not what God is calling us to do. He is calling us to love God with all our being and to love our neighbours as ourselves. Love is a firm resolution of the will for the good of the other. I woke up this morning and prayed, I did not like this, yet I set my will on God and did what was good for me and gave glory to God. Sometimes I will like praying or, there's nothing I want to do more than pray. sometimes it's not like that and my will must be firm in God. in the good times and the bad.

There's less of an argument for misanthropy than there is misogyny.

For us to judge others we have to ignore our own sins and weaknesses.

Romans 3:12

''All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one."

Mark 10:18

And Jesus said to him, 'Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone.'

not necessarily true, i used to be a misanthrope but i hated and judged myself the most

Me too. I still see it as pride. When I judge someone I have to believe in that moment I'm worthy to judge them. Hate just turns on me and destroying myself is also an act of pride. It's Satan. There's a different kind of humility in the Bible that isn't self destructive. Knowing what sinners we are and how small we are, knowing despite that God loves us, destroying all of our pride and replacing it with love. I'm not there but I want that.

I am by no means a biblical scholar, a priest, nor a saint like everyone else on here so all I can do is offer my own speculation and opinions. Do with it what you will.

Do I believe misanthropy leads to damnation? No. Not at all. Is there a limit on it? Of course there is. There is most certainly a difference between a man who holds his peers in contempt and distrust, versus a man who views his fellows with a lens of true hate. I am a misanthrope myself, to be quite frank I feel it worsening as time goes. It's a natural reaction to the age we are currently living in, where strife and cruelty are the norms while kindness and empathy are openly disdained. These are trying times my friend, trying times that would test the limits of even the most devout of us. Only a fool trusts and accepts without reserve, however one who senselessly scorns and views with contempt is equally so. There is balance, there is always balance. Do not judge others for your own sins but certainly do not be afraid to confront it. Ignoring evil for the sake of personal vanity is a greater sin than the one being ignored. Hold others to account for their actions, just make sure you do not make a hypocrite of yourself
