And you gave them kingdoms and peoples and allotted to them every corner. So they took possession of the land of the western, Arabian peninsula. God multiplied their children as the stars of heaven, and He brought them into the land that He had told Abraham and his descendants to enter and possess. So they ate and were filled and became fat and delighted themselves in His great goodness.
Nevertheless, they were disobedient and rebelled against God and cast His law behind their back and killed His prophets, who had warned them in order to turn them back to Him, and they committed great blasphemies. Therefore He gave them into the hand of their enemies, who made them suffer and according to His great mercies He gave them saviors who saved them from the hand of their enemies. But after they had rest they did evil again before Him, and God abandoned them to the hand of their enemies, so that they had dominion over them.
Yet when they turned and cried to God, He heard from heaven, and many times He delivered them according to His mercies. And He warned them in order to turn them back to His law. Yet they acted presumptuously and did not obey God's commandments, but sinned against His rules, which if a person does them, he shall live by them, and they turned a stubborn shoulder and stiffened their neck and would not obey. Now, therefore, God, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God, who keeps covenant and steadfast love. Let God has been righteous in all that has come upon the people of Israel, for He have dealt faithfully and them have acted wickedly. Their kings, their princes, their priests, and Abraham's descendents have not kept God law or paid attention to His commandments and His warnings that He gave them. Even in their own kingdom, and amid God's great goodness that He gave them, and in the large and rich land that He set before them, they did not serve Him or turn from their wicked works.
Behold, they are slaves in sin; in the land that God gave to the people of Israel to enjoy its fruit and its good gifts, behold, we are slaves. And its rich yield goes to the kings of first the Assyrians, then the Babylonians, and the Greeks and the Romans, whom God had set over them because of their sins. They rule over their bodies and over their livestock as they please, and were in great distress.
So God set up over them one shepherd, like a servant of king David, and He shall feed them: He shall feed them and be their shepherd. And He, the Lord, will be their God, and His servant David shall be prince among them. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. and the government shall be upon his shoulder, whom they have pierced, he allowed for the slaves of sin's transgressions; he was crushed for their iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought all sinner's peace, and with his wounds we are healed. And they shall mourn for him, as one mourns for an only child, and weep bitterly over him, as one weeps over a firstborn. and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.
