You don't have to go to daily mass at 8 am, try looking around for other parishes because many of them also celebrate mass at 12 pm on weekdays or even in the evening because of people's work schedules.

Set two alarms. One at time A, one 15 minutes later. Put your phone out of reach so you have to stand up.

am I correct to assume you just sit down and listen to a lecture most of the time?

My church has no chairs/benches so we stand during the liturgy for about 3hours. Actually helps keep you awake and focused and gives you room to do prostrations and so forth.

I can't imagine how awful it would be if the church was full of benches for people to nod off in.

That's probably closer to a Protestant service.

A mass on the other hand is one long prayer, so you're constantly getting up, sitting down, kneeling, saying prayers and singing. It keeps you active, honestly.

We do stand and kneel and pray like all catholic masses. However the priest falling asleep in his chair upfront isn't the best.

i'm not going to say the name of the one i use, so it doesn't sound like i'm shilling for it,

but there are free* alarm apps on your phone you can get that make you do things like solve puzzles, math equations, or hold your phone near a NFC tag (which you can put in a different room, so you have to get up and walk to it) before the alarm stops ringing.

makes it really tough to just turn the alarm off and fall back asleep.

well i've been using https://alar.my/ recently, i don't think it has the cool NFC tag thing i was talking about though, i think that was "puzzle alarm" by wro claw studio.

i've just been using the math one on alarmy, i'm terrible at math so it really makes me think.
