Really weird change of words indeed. As Christians, shouldn't we be grateful for being put through tribulations? Its not tribulations that lead us to sin, they actually strengthen the Faith. Its temptation that we follow that leads us to sin.

But that's just my thoughts on the matter.

Because they wanted to standardize the prayer in all regions of the Dutch language (North-Dutch and South-Dutch dialects) they changed it all.

It's really just heresy but I've come to expect nothing less from the country where gay 'marriage' supporting bishops can stay in power.

Don't get me wrong I love the Lord's Prayer, but something I've always found odd is the phrasing "lead us not into temptation"

I mean, it's not like that was ever going to be a risk - God never tempts anyone and so it's not like we need to petition Him not too, which is what this phrasing sounds like. Protect us or deliver us would sound more naturally fitting to the meaning that the prayer is trying to convey imo. Unless I misunderstood big tiem?

Interesting, but I can't help think that that phrase has a totally different meaning than "do not lead us.." It's like you're saying "do not let this other thing tempt me, Lord," with the other entity doing the temping, which God protects or delivers us from, or helps by not letting us slip, etc.etc. Where as, the way that it's phrased, the Lord's prayer (seemingly) actually says "do not tempt me Lord," with God as the entity capable of being the temptor.
