Convince me the Nicene council should be followed.

I'm a former Jehovah's Witness as of today due to a new understanding I've arrived at. Most notably, that I'll never truly fit in as the person I am - that is the fun, loud and outgoing person I am inside.

I just can't be bothered to walk on egg shells around people to the degree that I have to fundamentally change who I am as a person.

I'm going to the assembly tomorrow in hopes that I can find someone else who is wanting to leave the Watchtower organization as well.

It will be the first time that I actually try hitting on chicks (to put it bluntly) at a convention as an adult as I was away for a few years.

And it will likely be the last time in the foreseeable future.

I'm just wondering where I go from here.

I know that I would want to join a protestant, evangelical church that is firmly against homosexuality as well as one that supports a man as the head of the physical family.

I guess I'm looking for proper Christianity without all the false Jehovah's Witness doctrines.

I understand I'll need to relearn some things, I'm okay with believing in the trinity and learning about it but I would rather stick with a non-trinitarian group.

>(And I'm not that JW who created any of the other JW threads you see.)

Oh and during my time away I remained a Christian, I was just non-denominational.

If you seek the truth and wise council will truth not be proved to you there?

Because the doctrine of the trinity is sensible.

>I actually try hitting on chicks

Reported for domestic abuse

>against homosexuality

>Implying evangelicalism isn't usurped by jesuits

You're better off attending a LCMS for conservatism

Because it's right.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, (1 Corinthians 8:6, Ephesians 4:5)

the Only Begotten Son of God, (John 3:16)

born of the Father before all ages. (Colossians 1:15, 1:17)

God from God (John 1:1-2), Light from Light, (John 1:4, 1:9, 2 Corinthians 4:6, Hebrews 1:3)

true God from true God, (1 John 5:20)

begotten, not made (John 1:18), consubstantial with the Father (cf. 1 John 1:5 & John 1:4, 1:9);

through him all things were made (John 1:3, 1:10, Colossians 1:16, 1 Corinthians 8:6, Romans 11:36, Hebrews 1:10).

For us men and for our salvation (Matthew 1:21, 1 Thessalonians 5:9, Colossians 1:13-14)

he came down from heaven, (John 3:13, 3:31, 6:38)

and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary (Luke 1:34-35),

and became man (John 1:14, Hebrews 2:14).

For our sake he was crucified (1 Peter 2:24) under Pontius Pilate (Mark 15:15),

he suffered death (Matthew 27:50) and was buried, (Matthew 27:59-60)

and rose again on the third day (Mark 9:31, 16:9, Acts 10:40)

in accordance with the Scriptures (Luke 24:45-46, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4).

He ascended into heaven (Acts 1:9)

and is seated at the right hand of the Father (Mark 16:19, Luke 22:69).

He will come again in glory (Mark 13:26, John 14:3, 1 Thessalonians 4:17)

to judge the living and the dead (Matthew 16:27, 2 Corinthians 5:10, 2 Timothy 4:1, 1 Peter 4:5)

and his kingdom will have no end (Hebrews 1:8, 2 Peter 1:11).

I believe in the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8), the Lord, the giver of life, (John 6:63, 2 Corinthians 3:6)

who proceeds from the Father (John 15:26) and the Son (John 16:7),

who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, (2 Corinthians 3:8)

who has spoken through the prophets (1 Peter 1:10-11, Ephesians 3:5).

I believe in one (Ephesians 4:4), holy (Ephesians 1:4, 5:27), catholic (Matthew 28:19, Acts 1:8) and apostolic (Ephesians 2:20) Church (Matthew 16:18, Romans 12:4-5, 1 Corinthians 10:17).

I confess one baptism (Ephesians 4:5, Galatians 3:27, 1 Corinthians 12:13) for the forgiveness of sins (Colossians 2:12-13, Acts 22:16)

and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead (Romans 6:4-5, 1 Thessalonians 4:16)

and the life of the world to come (2 Peter 3:13, Revelation 21:1). Amen.

>I and my Father are one.

>t. Jesus, John 10:30

To the extent that a discussion is necessary, the discussion should be between Partialism, Modalism, and the Trinity. The notion that Jesus was an angel isn't even in the realm of possibility if you're going at it with Sola Scriptura. The Bible clearly indicates that Jesus is a divine being.

The other possibilities hold up better, but still fall apart when you examine them closely. Modalism is a bit tricky, but on the cross, Jesus clearly prays to the Father. If Jesus is the Father, then it wouldn't make a whole lot of sense to pray to himself. Sabellianist scum will try to lead you to Hell by saying, "That was the Son of Man praying and not the Son of God!" citing the quite doctrinaire point that Jesus was fully man and fully God. However, the specific words that Jesus uses all but indicate that he's praying to an external Father. Why would he need to explain to someone who's inside of him that "It is finished."?

Partialism is honestly close enough, imo, but nonetheless still heretical. The fullness of God exists within the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. They don't combine together to make the Triforce – a venerable religious relic in its own right.

I'm already passed that point.

I understand a few of their short comings, if not all of them in the slightest ways.

I'm just ready to leave and find a church that's more suiting.

Beats trying to fit into a pair of pants that just won't fit.

Essentially though, I used my biblical understanding of the bible as well as logic to reason my way through them trying to get me to roll over and accept that I had done wrong - when I never did anything wrong to begin with.

I jokingly asked a group of sisters if any of them needed a husband at a congregation I was visiting and word got back to my elders.

That's just not a religion I want to be a part of.

Also I've decided not to go to the assembly tomorrow and look for my future wife.

The odds are so low of finding just the right person.

I'm better off reading my bible at home and studying up on other churches in hopes of increasing my odds.

Good idea on that. The Bible is always a good thing to read, and it never enters into the world without merit. Still, it is best to not only consult the Bible, but also to look into the men and women of the Early Church, who deeply understood and devoted themselves to God. It allows us to remain humble and gain insight into what the Church is, who God is, and what a man or women wishing to serve God should do.

03b723 No.554513

the nicene creed is the default christian definition of the faith, if you reject it then you reject the christian faith.

Christ started a church and his church is supposed to safeguard the doctrines, beliefs and practices from corruption. Sorry you are not the "arbiter of truth" you can't just pick up scripture and roll the dice and hope you stumble upon the right interpretation, we see where that lead us (i.e the great Deformation of the 1500s). And now we have female pastors and gay marriage and "eucharist is just a metaphor like baptism lmao" nonsense.
