Why does Hasbro produce ouija boards and sells them as toys of 8+ kids when they are tools for séances and, according to many christian denominations, instruments to communicate with the devil?

Should christians boycott Hasbro because of this?

Hasbro/Parker Brothers has been making those since 1891 and you're just now noticing?

>boycott Hasbro

cc7708 No.551579

>>551575

As far as i read they bought the rights in the 90s

7afa4d No.551580

>>551579

Yeah, Hasbro bought Parker Brothers in the early 90s; but before that it was Parker Bros. making the things. Should we boycott them for making those things? Maybe. I've never been much a fan of boycotts. They're very ineffectual. A lot of church groups and organizations have been boycotting Hasbro for a long time, but the company keeps growing.

I'm not saying no, but they own a LOT of stuff. I can't imagine not giving my kids Play-Doh.

9452e7 No.551582

>>551579

Wait how can there be rights to this

If it's over 100y old can it be subject to copyright?

af2eda No.551583

>>551580

Boycotts are ineffective because so few people care.

If Christians would actually only do business with Christian companies, there would be Christian companies. The fact is, most people don't care.

Complicating the problem- what is a "Christian" company. The different denominations would have points on which they were unwilling to support each other.

It's a good idea but it would take some real negotiation to figure out what we were talking about. Still, as much as I dislike the idea of veneration, I'd rather buy from a Catholic than an Atheist.

Bought the rights to Parker brothers. Hasbro also produces Monopoly now

cc7708 No.551590

>>551582

I don't know

It was first patented in 1891 and Hasbro bought the patent and trademark in 1991

7afa4d No.551591

>>551582

Copyrights last for 70 years after the death of the author and can be renewed. The original patent on the Ouija board expired a long time ago, but the Parker Brothers version is still under copyright protection and owned by Hasbro since 1991.

>>551583

A lot of it has to do with distribution. Like, we don't buy a game from Hasbro, we buy it from a place like Wal-mart. In order to truly boycott Hasbro, we have to boycott Wal-mart and any other store that sells Hasbro products. Except for Hobby Lobby I can't think of any game/art supply chain that is a Christian corporation.

Incidentally, Hobby Lobby doesn't sell Play-Doh (Hasbro).

I gotta write a book man, copyright lasts forever now

Aye, well, it doesn't stop piracy. All it does is protect you from plagiarists.

That "tool" is superstition - it does not work in 99.99999999999999999% of cases - and if you think this is more than just a toy for kids, then you're being superstitious, too. The other 0.000000000000000001% however are what causes trouble - when demons actually get track and start obsessing and oppressing (with) the people/kids up to severe possessions. What drives the demons to attack/attach to these people is not the usage of the Ouja board but the fact they want to summon demons "for fun" (or what they think are "ghosts") and go as far as partaking in rituals - because this is nothing but an occult ritual - to actually get their goal through - even if they think it's all just fun. You could do the exact same with anything, a candle and some letters written on a sheet of paper.

Should Christians boycott Hasbro for it ? No, because it won't do shit anyway. But we should spread awareness that this activity in itself is occult and attracts demons and can therefore be immensely dangerous.

af2eda No.551610

I knew kids that played with ouija boards when I was a kid. They -hoped- it was summoning demons. Especially post 8-9 it was the thrill, the danger- without really comprehending it. Kids are reveling in the potential corruption because adults don't really talk about it or stop it and, thus, it's implicit permission to do something they know is a little bit evil.

Kids love partaking in sins the world won't acknowledge. It's a first, test-rebellion for them because their conscience hasn't been seared yet but no punishment for engagement is certain:

-See also, homosexuality, porn, masturbation, occult practices, etc.

cc7708 No.551627

>>551600

Even if it's all superstition you might still agree that selling occult stuff as a kid's game is morally questionable from a christian point of view

d4b88f No.551630

That's what I said. But we will not get people to boycott it, too. Therefore -> awareness

I think they look cool, have a nice wooden carved one up on my wall. Don't need to be some edgy fag to appreciate cool looking occult art.

Yeah, don't masturbate.

That way you can finish in 3 minutes and have a miserable marriage with no intimacy and a perpetually sexually frustrated wife.

Fucking genius.
