Just watched this 22 minute documentary on the IRD and I am a little shocked. While I do not agree with the direction some liberal churches have taken, I would never think to actively undermine them. Is the IRD a legit threat in that it breaks up churches?

>based in Washington DC

>Open Church philosophy on the importance of diversity of Christian views

>democracy is the future

I wouldn't trust them. These people are more concerned with the secularizing of the church and tying it down to the world than helping mankind return to God.

An immediate red flag went up for me when I heard that Mark Tooley used to work for the CIA. Whenever a think tank and the CIA are hand in hand, they are never up to any good despite how they try to make it seem.

Anon, when wicked, satanic apostate churches that bring shame on the truth die, that's a good thing. It would be a good thing for the United Methodist Church to die.

Even if said Methodists were secretly a cult of evil devil worshippers, that wouldn't make some sketchy thinktank with a less than transparent agenda threatening their existence automatically in the right. The enemy of my enemy is far too crude logic for anything less than total war.

Again I do not agree with the direction these churches have taken, but I most definitely do not agree that some outside influence should be attempting to bring upon their downfall sooner. Let their congregations themselves determine the direction they wish to move. If those within the Methodist or Episcopal church have had enough, they will simply leave on their own for another church. The thing that gets me is that you have this think tank that is deciding for itself what doctrines should be espoused for these mainline denominations. If they make these denominations collapse, then who will be next if it is according to their whim?
