Is it okay to despair when Christ has forgiven your sins? I am trapped (I say trapped, but I mean that I continually choose such due to my horribly sin-loving self) in persistent sin and often fall into deep sadness when I sin, even after I beg forgiveness. Is this natural or encouraged? I do not know if such feelings aid me in my struggle, and often when I feel as such I doubt God's willingness to forgive me (such doubts are quickly thrown out. I'm a sinner, not retarded). This gives me the inclination that they are of evil, but I am not sure. I know vaguely the Orthodox opinion, but does anyone have advice or thoughts?

Remember the romans 8:8 doesn't matter because of romans 5:12. But as a christian look forward to the 1 corinthians 15:44. OP it is normal to romans 7:15-25 confliction.

You've made me look up all these things in the tiny Gideon bible I have on hand. Thanks, but whyyyyyy

>>546773

Y'know, for a tiny stupid second I always think my sorrows are new, that no one else has experienced them before. Though, like I said, I throw that thought out because I'm not retarded. Your verses have comforted me. I think the Godly nature of my grief was what had given me the power to reject the lie that God did not wish to forgive me. So, thanks.

Yeah, I just feel the same from time to time so I thought that might have been it. Those verses also gave me massive comfort when I read them during those times.

I have no idea what you guys teach about forgiveness of sins but I can tell you that if you were Catholic it would not be ok. For when Christ forgives sin he is not wimpy scribbler who just says that you are white while you are black. He actually by his grace change you, ontologically. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow". Sure in his inifite mercy he leaves in you stain of sin and tempral debt of punishment so that you may merit in him by cooperating with Grace for when you do it, God crons his own work in you. But sin is null. To belive or even feel contrary it would be blasphermous against Holy Spirit for you proffes that your malice is greater than mercy of God.

If you belive that your sins were forgiven only becuase you belive that they were you make forgivens your own action.

On contrary, Original Sin (Romans 5) when forgiven by Baptism is null (Romans 6) but there is still concupiscence in us which is not Orginal Sin(Romans 7) so God can work in us by us. And that of course means that if we will act contrary to God he will condem us "For if you live according to the flesh, you shall die" (Romans 8)

Could you please clarify this?

Aside from that, you seem to imply I am still in sin, or perhaps that I was still in sin when I was sorrowful. The latter may have been true. What would be the Catholic procedure for the former, for the perspective of one outside my denomination?

>Could you please clarify this?

When we sin, we lose our Grace (Galatians 5:4) which is life eternal (Romans 6:23) ergo we die (1 John 5). But lo and behold (Matthew 9, John 20, 2 Corinthians 5-6) Christ forgives sin, so that we are alive again (Luke 15). But behold also, sin have twofold ends, or debets (2 Samuel 12, Joshua 22:17). Why is that? So that we may merit in God by doing good (1 Corinthians 15:58 etc).

For what phician would Christ be, if after healing a mortal wound he would not sent us to convalescence?

>Aside from that, you seem to imply I am still in sin, or perhaps that I was still in sin when I was sorrowful. The latter may have been true. What would be the Catholic procedure for the former, for the perspective of one outside my denomination?

Go to confession of course (Matthew 9, John 20, 2 Corinthians 5-6) as God intended.

I am not 100% sure, but anyone baptised who profess to hold that Confession is real Sacrament, in case of mortal sin can attend it.
