I don't think masterbation is a sin because of there being no verse in the Bible forbidding touching yourself. That said though if you are trying to avoid such things you can focus on disciplining yourself.

Get a hobby you can focus on like writing or painting. Maybe make a regieme of working out or playing sports at a set time everyday. Whenever you start to think about such things as to cause you to break your discipline immidiatelly start an activity like playing sports or working out. Maybe force yourself to do 40 push ups everytime you get the urge or something like that.

I didn't masturbate or touch myself to completion until age 19. I had wet dreams many times as a teenager but never came while awake. It is possible.

When I finally did succumb to this sin I felt extremely badly about it. I've succumbed a few times per year since then. I've read online about people developing their addiction to masturbation at age 8, 10, 12…it grieves me to read of this. Honestly, you need to be getting this message to kids BEFORE they are teenagers.

I wholehartedly believe that the first time you masturbate to completion while awake you make the temptation that much greater, and every time you do it you are setting up a pattern of chronic masturbation.

Put the fear of the Lord into your children early and preach this doctrine as soon as they can hear - the only time you should be teaching your genitals is to urinate, clean yourself or scratch a bad itch - everything else is sinful in the eyes of the Lord and if you do it you are setting in motion an addiction.

I actually think we fundamentally agree with each other - masturbation is a vice. God hints many times in the Bible that masturbation is a sin, most famously in the story of Onan. But of course, it's possible to dispute the reason God slew Onan (i.e. God slew him because he refused to follow the Law and impregnate his brother's wife).

I consider anything that defiles the body a sin, but I don't think we can ever get rid of all the sins in our life because it's possible we sin without even knowing, as it is written.

Masturbation harms one of the things most important to God - marriage. A man who is used to it won't be able to know his wife properly. This could lead them to fall away from each other, for the Bible makes clear that sex in marriage is vital. Many chronic masturbators can't even ejaculate with PIV, for their flesh gets so used to the feeling of the hand that even the tightest woman cannot extract seed.

I don't think that masturbation is one of the most important sins, or God would have listed it explicitly. But I still think it's a sin and do my best not to do it - because it's a vice and spiritually harmful. And it may harm my marriage in the future, which would be a terrible thing indeed in the eyes of the Lord.

Having the household follow the same rules helps as well - often, children do things they shouldn't do specifically because they know their parents do it.
